Some of the best armor I've found is the 1/4 weight full plate mail. It works like a charm. As to finding special armor from those merchants mentioned earlier. I talked to all of them and thouroughly went through their inventories and I can safely say that there was nothing like that in their stores in my game.

Conlan in Kuldahar has two nifty plate mails I just recently looked at his inventory. He has alot of expensive equipment but only two pieces of armour. I wanted to by them but they were expensive and I decided to buy Ring of the Gods. But I may go back to buy one of them later on.

It probably is the patch then. I have the latest patch installed, but no mods, so it can't be a mod.

That said, why don't you patch your game? It's only a small download, and it's not like it ruins anything. Quite the opposite.

Well, it's a little late for that; the game has long been off my drive by now. I had no problems playing the original version. Besides that, I rather liked the way the improved invis and summon undead spells worked
