Since everyone is saying that Bg2 is better i am going to say that IWD and HoW is better, just to be diffrerent, and in my opinion i think that the landscapes are designed better and the twist at the end is just soooooo unexpected but i wont spoil it for you

They just play different. I like BGII better for the ingame story and the game depth, but IWD and IWD II have their own pluspoints. If you are looking for an easier game then the BG series in a icy landscape with a nice feeling to it, go for IWD or it's sequal. If you are looking for a whole indepth gaming experience go for BGII.

One way or another they are both great and I wouldn't have wanted to miss them for the world.

Question Mark

I guess it depends on what kind of gaming experience you're after.

I found BG2 very annoying in that it had so many inexcusable plotholes (Bodhi only appearing at nighttime) and its linearity as compared to BG, was also disappointing. I'd also argue to the contrary that its NOT bigger than the original, since BG was so open with its possibilities. Although, I wouldn't know with the throne of baal - I don't have an ego big enough to try it.
Power gaming madness! Well..maybe one day! Perhaps I'll try BG2 again at some point to see if its as annoying as I remember it, this time with different NPC's so I don't get too attached to them if they turn out to be traitors (why oh Yoshimo, why??)

Ahhh, the infinity engine is just so irrepressible, they're so hard to resist!

Otherwise, I have to reccomend Ultima VII for a thoroughly enjoyable role playing experience. But if its more hackity slash slash you're after, just stick to your diablos or diablo clones, or somesuch shallow trash.

Going through the Towers at Severed Hand at the moment...progress has been slow, but utterly enjoyable!

Icewind dale i think although alot shorter than BG 2 there is alot more detail and effort put into the landsacpes and some of them are actually so good i once just sat for an hour exploring..Especially the ice palace chapt 5.

You took me a bit too literally here!
We're getting a bit off topic/game here, but no matter....

The point I was making is in regard to the final battle with her - from memory, regardless of the time of day you try to enter the crypt to kill her (say travelling there at 6 am in the morning from somewhere nearby) it is always nighttime when you get to the crypt when she gives you the speech outside.
As if it would take half the day just to get there!
One would imagine you would have a tactical advantage if you tried to enter the crypt during the day - but to no avail! It is always night no matter what! Or did I miss something? Was there another way?

Curious!

The reason for that is to preserve the plot continuity of the various romance options. Bodhi is supposed to kidnap your loved one and you are supposed to save your loved one from vampirism.

I would Say Baldurs gate 2, with the SOA add on.
It's probably the best ever RPG.

I didn't like Planescape, though most folks seemed to.

IWD was much better than IWD2, but definitely go for BG2.

If you want something a litle different, any of the Might and Magic games will do the trick also.
