Yeah if you remeber Drizzt didnt actually defeat him, His attacks were useless, but then Zak got sentient from seeing Drizzt's techniques again and jumped into the acid (well i read it along time ago....)
SO that means a lvl 18 fighter (someone said?) couldnt defeat him, who knows how powerful he was |

No, the speech wasn't locked. If you continued on with the angered line of dialogue, eventually you just attack him. He uses that 'well, your funeral' bit again. Pretty tragic; his mage was actually more of a challenge than he was.

Just don't pluck the gems back off Jarlaxle's corpse after you defeat him (on the chance that you defeated him before his mage, and that you actually bother to loot corpses before a battle is over). You'll get stuck in an endless loop.

If you thought drizzt was strong in BG2 he was damn near unbeatable in BG1. Either way he has only 13 strength but 5 attacks per round so really 10 attacks. He's a bit weaker in BG2 but will be stronger than any other ranger of the same level.

He wasnt unbeatble---- you just needed to surround him with monsters, and pray for criticals!

Before his death, Zaknafein was a level 24 fighter, an unmatched Drow Weaponsmaster. Not Even Drizzt could defeat him in combat, up until he perfected a countermove against Zak's scissor attack. Now As far as Drizzt (The following is all from the Menzoberranzen boxed set so he is most likely even stronger in the current time)
AC -3 to -8 HP 92 Attacks 5 Damage 1d8 +7 (x3) 1d8 +5 (x2) His equipment is Mithril Chain +4, A defender +5, and a frostbrand +3. He also has Bracers of Speed which he actually wears as Anklets since his feet couldn't keep up with his hands when he wore them normally. And yes, before he was a level 18 fighter before he met the Ranger Montolio. As far as I know, He has never been beaten, and the only one to come close, other than Zaknafein of course, was the Assassin Artemis Entreri. I would love to see Drizzt and Jaraxle go at it, though I think even Jar would be hesitent to piss him off, even with all the magical trinkets he has. |
