Wait a sec... where is the wizard guild in the first city?
And just to get ahead of myself, i completed the toad quest and the crypt quest, where is the next city? I think its to the west of nymph lake going up but im about to go there at the moment and start scouting around. |

The wizard's guild in Valeia, the first city, is on the left edge of the city. Look for a tall white tower, and that's it.
*spoiler ahead* . . . . . You can get to the next city after you've completed the crypt and have the mavin ring. Talk to the oracles, ask about destiny, and they'll open the way through to Ishad N'ha-ha-ha, the next city in the Gael Serran. The oracles are well to the north, near the Toad Village.

Ok theres a tower in the first city, but i cant click on it. Perhaps a bug?
I also cant exit through the gate on the far right of the screen. In the city of vaia all the buildings i can enter are inn tavern armory and temple. So there is supposed to be another building i can enter? No wonder. the village elder said to meet him at his house but i could never click on anything. And a snake man entered the town and killed him. I have searched all over the toad city area and cant find any oracles. Is there any map online that labels where stuff is? The problem with not being able to exit from the western gate of Valeia is well known. It tells us that you're running on windows 2000 or XP and haven't done the virtualdub thing yet.
Check out the Tech Tips thread for details on where to get virtualdub and how to use it. The good news is that it's really painless, and you should be ready to go quickly. The less good news ('cause it's not really bad) is that the size of your video files will increase substantially -- around 32MB each, IIRC. As for the Oracles, they're in a cave up north near the Toad Village. Follow the shore around and you'll come to a small wooden dock. Head over to the other side of the dock and you should be able to see them without any problem. They're in the wall of fire at the end of the tunnel.

but for the 1st part, u dun get many chances to earn money (besides the trade-skulls-for-money thingy) so role changing ur rogue can be tough too! by that time, where are u gona get the character to pick treasure boxes and such?

I get my lockpicking from a barbarian, LiOnHe@rT. They can learn that skill immediately, and it's real easy to become one. And the other characters will have up to ten chances or so (one per level) to train in the guilds in Valeia -- their initial guild, or if you're using the guild-hopping feature, all guilds.
If you skip the hopping, your warriors will have high strength or sword by the time they get to Ishad N'ha. Wizards will have their level seven spells, and priests will get their spells as well. The rogue gets none of that benefit. If you hop, then everyone can train at every level (except the rogue, of course). That means high stats (an orkish warrior with 20 INT? Yep...) and advanced skills, a total of ten or so skill and ability levels in addition to the normal skill and ability points you get when levelling up. The rogue just loses out, no matter how you look at it.

Let us emphasize: A barbarian is a full sized rogue able of everything that a rogue can do. The "natural skills" of a barbarian (those skills that are offered to you during promotion to next level) are the same as those of a rogue. You are losing no rogue's abilities by replacing a rogue by a barbarian. Quite the opposite:
- A barbarian has more HPs. - A barbarian can join warrior's guild. Therefore, he can train in Valeia. - A barbarian can use any weapon including katanas. The cost of a brabarian consists in the following: - You have to complete a role changing quest. A brabarian is an "elite role". - You need much better stats for a brabarian than for a rogue. That's all.

So, really.... a Barbarian is a rogue on steroids with an attitude, right?

Another note. Is anyone in here currently running the game on win2k/XP and has some knowledge of encoding movies? Could someone perhaps try extracting the avi files and then encoding them with for instance DivX? I´m curious if that would work. I doubt it but it would save a lot of disk space for those that need it. |
