Neither Britain, France or Israel held it against the US that they failed to support the actions of thier allies when trying to oppose Arab Nationalism in the Middle East. I can understand the US sending David Ben Gurion a telegram asking him "to do nothing that will disturb the peace in the region". Who would not wish for such a thing.
