It is interesting to note that, in the Buddhist tradition (cool down please, I'm not proselytising), people who have attained to great heights of virtue and wisdom are sometimes said to leave behind little gems among their ashes after cremation. These gems are supposed to be indestructible and are called sarira, and they are treasured as holy relics. I haven't seen any sarira firsthand, but this is what I've read and heard. Wonder if the whole idea of a LifeGem could have been inspired by this.
Don't you think you played a little too much Morrowind ?

It isnt that strange. I have a friend who has the tip of his wifes finger. She was killed in a car accident and when the police finaly released her car to him so he could get her things he found the finger tip under the drivers seat. It is hard, dry and brown now and unless you knew it was a finger you wouldnt recognize what it was. He says that he keeps it because when he holds it he feels like she isnt gone.

YAY! When I die, and I know I will die first, I am insisting that my significant other, whether male or female, according to my will(if they want any part of my leftover gazillions), has to have a certain part of their anatomy pierced with my life gem.

There was a documentary on last year which my mum saw and told me about. This woman was making a doco about her pregnancy and having her baby for some reason, but her baby was stillborn. So they filmed the aftermath of that instead. Anyway this woman took her stillborn baby home with her and carried it round and basically treated it as if it were alive for about a week. I think she took it back to the hospital at night to go in the morgue so it wouldn't decompose. Now the old practice of doctors taking away stillborn babies and not letting mothers see them and say goodbye was awful, but I think there's a happy medium!

Makes these life gems look positively healthy.

Wow what a sick world we live in for someone to even think of this. They're gone let them go. No I don't want to let them go I want their carbon molded into a diamond that I can then mount on a ring and carry around with me forever. Hey so and so thats a nice ring you have there. Ring? this is my dog sparky. honestly how disgusting is this?
