Every time you turn a page, the game selects one of the 8 pages at random. So, theoretically, you could get screwed into the Burning Hands page on your first try, or you might be able to go on turning pages until hell freezes over and always have more pages left--as long as you never hit Burning Hands, that is.

Understand that non-Wizards can use the book as well. So a Paladin can be bashing on foes halfway and take out the book to summon a Wyern by his side.

Wow, I never got "True Seeing"

In my game with a Sorcerer protagonist, it's almost worth flipping to that page and dropping Keldorn from my party (Sorcerer will have the great "Dispel Magic" and anybody would have "True Seeing"!).

anybody ever 'turn the page' and get duplicate books?

i tried this in my last game, and ended up with 4 different books! weird!

Erm.. I just got invisibility from the book.. that's not on the list up there..

ShadowKeeper lists the following spells in the book:

Fireball
Invisibility
Protection from Evil
True Seeing
Farsight
Spell Turning
Wyvern Call
Stinking Cloud
Lightning Bolt
Burning Hands

That's a list of 10, not 8.
