I would also agree and this is because of the fact that they can not cast any contingencies or triggers unlike in BG2. Another thing is the fact that Druids can wear armuor! Also dundee said that they have good sells such as mordankiens force missles, virtrolics acid sphere and death spells are these spells really in IWD or HOW because i know they are in IWD2.

I usually play a druid and a mage. BTW bards are great in HoW (never played one in IWD.) Bards in HoW are cool, they can sing a song that heals everyone up. AND they can cast most mage spells.

Druids. Definently druids, and I could not agree with Dundee more. Though I preferm fighter druids over normal ones.

Maybe it's due to my preference in the pencil-and-paper D&D gaming that I enjoy, but I will always take a Mage for raw offensive power. Their spells come out quicker and usually do far more damage; their party-aiding spells usually last longer than priestly counterparts (with the exception of defensive-based spells, where the Priests rule compared to the Mage's usual "caster-only" defense). Priests have their uses, but IMO, a Mage will dominate a long-ranged combat scenario far more (though in IWD, spells are usually limited to LOS, which is far shorter than the range should be compared to pencil-and-paper rules).
Of course, as I am not partial to Druids in particular (though I am familiar with their spells), I could be wrong. But, my choice party for IWD has two priestly casters (Paladin and Cleric) and three wizards (Fighter/Mage, Mage/Thief, and Mage)... along with the lowly, but far-too-useful Thief.

Druids kick major butt in IWD
1. Best offensive cleric spells are available 2. Can turn into Earth and Water Elementals which are immune to slashing damage and regenerate hit points over time, and do a great deal of crushing damage. 3. At higher level no need for rest 4. Also has a great deal of useful summon spells There are several areas of the game which become a cakewalk if one of your party is 100% immune to slashing damage (druid in elemental form). Cast static charge before turning into a water or earth elemental you have the ultimate tank. [ 03-25-2003, 10:05 AM: Message edited by: pritchke ] |
