I say take this to the state or council or whatever. Action must be taken at this point, and if the system says no, make them say yes.

If this story is true, the solution for the 'guard' is simple.

While I agree that is certainly an outrage, that's not the case with every prison.

That's insane, even we Canajuns lock our prisoners up! (except in the lowest security of prisons, the halfway house)
A sure recipe for dead security guards.

It sounds like the prison guard union that runs the prison's in your Bro's area are inept. The prisons here in california get more money then the education system, due entirely to the prison guard union here. It makes me sick to think about it.

If I was warden of that prison there would be some serious changes. 140 prisoners, basically people who I would assume convicted of violent crimes would not be in a open room with one unarmed guard. The first sign of any sort of disturbance would mean hell for those prisoners. These people in my eyes deserve no respect or any sort of fancy treatment. Either you shape up or ship out in a body bag.

I can't understand, why they send someone in at all, if the can't afford to send in more people!?!
The job could easily be done (and probably even better and cheaper) by some hidden cameras for example. That's a shame!

Prisons do work but not like this
Ganging prisoners together, and giving them all the time in the world to chatter with one another is just asking for trouble. That's why a lot of ex-convicts cant get out of the criminal scene, after all they meet new criminals inside the prsion with whom they'll cooperate later there should be at least 2 shifts of guards of 2 persons each, who dont have to come near the prisoners, and who can wear at least a stick This situation you described is just sick
