They update every 3 hrs or so, Nothing yet, I am going to do a search to make sure it is set up correctly
not updated yet, search was empty Name is good, But the #1 is unnecessary now(although it does not hurt anything), Stanford fixed it so no #'s were needed. I may need to update the guide |

I downloaded the program as a screensaver, but never got a configuration screen like it says in your guide?!? Would like to help, but need a little guidance. Should I download it as a console instead?

The console is Much better.
There is a time limit (72hrs I believe) for a unit or it is not accepted/credited. The Screen saver may not run enough to do the work in that time. I personally Have NO experience with the screen saver, so I definitely recommend the consloe for many reasons. Number one is I can help with qusetions on it, and am clueless with the screen saver version.....sorry. After you download you have to extract it and install it. Then run it the first time, that is when you will get the config screen. I am off to bed, if you have any other questions please refer to the links in my first post or goto the FAQ at the folding site until I can get back online. Moridin, yes... the console seems to be the preferred method... It appears to run as a low priority process (when I am in the forums, it is working, when I ran Icewind Dale, it appeared to pause.)

That is correct, F@H jumps on every "Idle" cpu cycle.
If something else needs the cpu, it gets it, if some idle cycles pass that aren't doing anything F@H jumps on them. People run it all the time and don't notice any ill effects in games or whatever. When gaming, F@H doesn't get much done because there are FEW idle cycles, But it saves from shutting it down and restarting it. So no harm in leaving it running. BTW AMD systems run F@H much Faster than Intel Ran at the same MHZ processors would stack up like this #1 Athlon/Thunderbird #2 Duron #3 PIII #4 P4 #5 Celeron |

Yes, I see I am on the list, and will be adding a second computer to the fray. Let me take this opportunity to ask that each of the members of the board (with connections and/or situations suitable) join in this cause. My computer sits idle during the day while I am at work and I am on a cable connection, so this will work out as a useful function for the daytime.

Here is the Scientific Background on it, in case anyone wants to read up. http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandeg...m/science.html |

I am bumping this for those of you who have computers that idle during the day/night, or whatever.
