Umm when my computer desn't work I turn it off and then on again, and if that doesn't fix it, I usually swear at it, and if that doesn't help then I hit it. If its still not working then I let it sit for a few days and try it later. If it doesnt work after that, I take it in to get it fixed as you can see my computer knowledge is top notch. I don't even know how to make my fonts those pretty colors.

Do you trust me? Why do you trust me?

OK here is what you need to do. Open notepad
Copy this code and put it in notepad.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]

"Start Page"="http://www.msn.com/"

Now save it as home.reg
Then double click on it.

Granamere

I would also like to point out that if you still have a tsr running that did this it very well could change it back. Also this is for Windows XP. I think it should work for all versions of IE6 but who knows.

Okay...now thigs have gotten really bad. I got your PM, Granamere, but I do not know what that might do to my PC, and so I am a bit shy to try anything like that, especially on my own.

The homepage area was blank when I cleaned out the name of the offending homepage, but then it came back in again like Granamere said it would, as it probabaly had a lingering file that helped it reopen. I deleted everything again like the first time, but now I cannot open Explorer! The whole Homepage option area is still greyed out, but in the space where a URL goes, this is written:

/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&pver=6&ar=msnhome

This command does not allow Explorer to open a window.

So, how am I here now? I went through C:/documents/Larry/Favorites/msn.com and pulled the internet up from the favorites folder. Then I dragged and dropped that link onto my desktop.

But this is to last for only as long as it takes to fix the real problem. Any ideas?

If only I could get the option to open that would allow me to reset the homepage.

But if I did that, would it still work? It is the registery key that is out of place. I do not think that uninstalling IE would clear out the registry key that I have corrupted, and reinstall it clean. Just my hunch.

Can somebody confirm that?

Larry, before you try anything drastic there is one simple thing you should check:

Assuming you are running the latest version of Spybot, open the program. On the screen, you should see in the left hand column an icon that is labeled 'immunize.' Click on this. On the new screen there are a series of boxes that can be checked, one of which reads 'lock IE start page againts user changes.' Make sure that this is unchecked.
