Regarding IWD... "it is what it is". Users can always find thngs they want to change (myself included). I would personally like to see a "BG3"!

I agree with most of the people here. I definitely should have played Icewind Dale before Baldur's Gate

Yeah, I heard rumors of a Fallout 3 too. I'm looking forward to that. I'm hoping they update the engine (or use a new one), but I'd probably still get it if they don't. That was one of the best written cRPGs I ever played. It was fluid. You always stayed in the plot. I guess all that side quest crap in Chapter 2 of BG2 is to increase replayablility, but to me, it's hugely sacrificing -play-ability.

I sure hope BG3 won't be more Bhalspawn stuff. I'd prefer something a little closer to what people would actually see in PnP AD&D. Furthermore, I also heard more rumors of an IWD2. Even though it's a dungeon crawl, I hope they bring a lot more plot to the 2nd one. Even a linear plot would be fine. Something a little more complicated than "go there kill that". I mean, yeah, it's a dungeon crawl, but nothing changes as you progress through the game. My entire strategy for the game is this, go to whatever temple/vale/cavern/dungeon, cast invis on my thief, send him ahead to scout and disarm traps, clear the level, proceed to next level, rinse and repeat. I mean, there's not much difference to me between the 1st level of the vale and the 1st level of the hand. It's the same strategy for everything. That's the one thing I liked about BG2, the battles themselves were very different in how you would handle them. It was the only thing that could keep me going (even if it was just to chapter 2).

But as for a sequel to anything, I think Black Isle needs to get their stuff together with this whole legal battle. I don't even think about NWN because it's been put off so much. My next purchase is probably going to be F3. I was tempted to pick up Planescape:Torment, because I hear that it's a more indepth plot. But I bet the plot is done as sloppy as the BG series so I took a pass. Why can't they get any of the good old school writers from PnP D&D to work on this. Or, if they have hired the old writers, what's going on? Like I said before, this isn't an issue of the engine limitations, so what's the problem?

BG2:TOB ENDED the Bhaalspawn saga. Once and for all ... That's been confirmed by Interplay and Black Isle. The confusion around a potential BG3 is whether BG3 is still a BG series game if it uses a different engine, (Aurora vs Infinity), has NOTHING to do with the Bhaalspawn saga, and is only set in the vicinity of Baldur's Gate.
You can make the call on that one ... LOL ...

Also, IWD 2 apparently would be 3D (but NOT a first person shooter perspective - they'll still use the overhead perspective from IWD2).

I just don't have ANY clue as to when these might be released.

Wait a sec, what's this 3D thing about? I heard rumors they were changing the engine, but I didn't expect it to really look much different. I like how it looks now. Are there any proposed screenshots anywhere? I want to see what Aurora looks like.

If Feargus Urquhuart from BIS is to believed, any future CRPG's will be in 3D but with the same type of overhead perspective as in IWD / BG1 / BG2. Rather than try to explain it, I'll juat post a link to a thread from him so you can read it ... i need to find it first ...

Hmm, quite frankly its weird. Last I heard IWD series would end with Trials of Luremaster so will BG with Throne of Bhaal. I think Black Isle doesnt have the right anymore to make any D&D games. I mean I remmeber hearing that as a fact quite a while ago.

So I doubt on IWD2 or BG3... Perhaps a different company will release those games then. So I still would not be surprised if something like that poped up.

Regarding Planescape - It's an *awesome* game. Very worth getting if you prefer a game that's more plot, less fighting (Although there's plenty of that, heh)

That's rich. If Feargus is to be believed future CRPG's will not only be 3D but also real time. Well there goes my so beloved Fallout turn based style. And real time as in REAL TIME. No pause, only scripts. Really nice. Just sit there and watch how your mage summons a fireball and in doing so wipes out half of your party. I don't want to critisize Feargus to much but sometimes he gets some really lame ideas.

LOL .... loved that JR Jansen

personally, I don't understand why they want to switch over to 3D either .... i love the overhead perspective ... all i can say is, "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!"
