I hate them! Who do they think they are? They want to stop the "illegal use of magical energy". Magic cannot be controlled.
Magic must be free to be casted.

quote: Heh, in 99.99% of the cases I suppose so, but you may never know when he/she might get lucky and kills them with a Sunfire and Skull Trap combo. I settled on level 15 as the minimum safety level to challenge them, because you can have Skeleton Warriors then. |

They distrust magic but use magic to "regulate" the spellcasters and send them to spellhold if the spellcasters break their "rules". Every single nobles hate them.

quote: Well... there is only one way to find out! Try it! Let's see, level 10 Mage with no items right? It is too late at night for me to do it now( flushing out Firkragg's dungeon now). I will give it a whirl tomorrow, level 10 Elf Mage on Insane Difficulty. Logic dictates I will die horribly, but you may never know when Lady Luck decided to smile on you. |

Does this mean that if you do choose to take them on that they can be completely defeated in a final battle? I'd always assumed that the game would just generate more and more powerful mages to take you on ad infinitum. I'd love to wipe the whole lot out!!! Will give it a go when my mage finishes BG1!
