I guess the Saudi's were too lazy to come up with some sort of law, so they just said: women are not allowed to drive.

From this info it seems this person was trying to pull something. It doesn't look like a religious thing.

Back when this issue hit the fan (last year I think) I remember listening to a Quaran expert explaining that the covering of the face was a voluntary thing a woman could do to show respect for her spouse (reserving the sight of her for him only). This woman however is not even arabic but an American Muslim convert and was (in the experts words) misrepresenting the issue.

Question Mark

True, she should never have had a license photo taken while her face was covered; someone in the DMV fell asleep on the job. Typical.

Technically, only the hair needs to be covered when in public. Full facial covering is a matter of personal choice.

The A.C.L.U agreed with the ruling. Even Jessie Jackson Agreeded! Now The world may come to an end with almost 98% of the whole U.S. all having the same thought and all on the same side.

The irony here is the State had previously issued a valid license to this lady.
There was no problem with her face being covered before 9-11 and I highly doubt lettting her face being covered would have led to any terrorist attacks.

I bet that if 9-11 didn't happened this would be a non-issue and the integrity of this womans strict beliefs would be intact.
I'm not so sure about that, Chewbacca. It seems this woman had more to hide than just her face.

Here is a segment of a story about her from the Miami Herald.....

"...Freeman, a convert to Islam previously known as Sandra Kellar, started wearing a veil in 1997. She had a mug shot taken without the veil after her arrest in Illinois in 1998 on a domestic battery charge involving one of twin 3-year-old sisters who were in her foster care.

Child welfare workers told investigators that Freeman and her husband had used their concerns about religious modesty to hinder them from looking for bruises on the girls, according to the police records. The girls were removed from the home."

I believe I also saw that this woman had been in trouble with Florida authorities on more than one occasion.

Admittedly, the authorities didn't revoke her license until after 9/11 - and I agree that they should never have taken the "veiled photo" in the first place. It just makes sense that you should actually be able to identify a person by looking at their photo ID.

So this woman was a member of the Nation of Islam ? Imo that's a whole different religeon than "Islam" as it's supposed to be. This one is based upon hate afgainst everything that's white. Malcolm X came to realise that when he first went to Mecca.

It's also no secret that a lot of the "Nation" followers were converted while doing time in prison, when people have nothing better to do anyway. Not a very serious religeon if you ask me.

ID stands for "Identification", so therefore an ID's purpose is identification.
