Mel, the most worrying part is that I didn't quote the article, but the biography of the band on the largest online music database out there, which is mostly considered to be quite objective and very complete. I wouldn't be surprised if that's simply the promotion story the record company itself has been spreading, rather than a collection of "lies" the site itself has made up.

well I'd take it with a pinch of salt. It definitely sounds like embellishment for the most part

It's not. The facts about the murders and arsons are true, it's just that I find it strange to take the actions of a mentally disturbed minority as representative for a whole genre which has thousands of 'normal' fans and musicians.

I've sent you a few PM's at PDM btw, Mel.
Well yeah, I'm actually surprised you haven't heard about it before - like I said this has been rehashed by the media forever. And I completely agree that it's MORE than sick, but it seems dubious to say the least that all you ever hear about a genre encompassing thousands of bands are the actions of a handful of nutcases that were affiliated with it. Hardly accurate or representative of the genre as a whole.
Actually, that is the case. I'm simply not that interested in the entire metal scene and all it's subgenres, more of an indie fan myself. And I didn't made a generalization of the entire genre based on those handful of nutcases, did I? I only saw the likes of Emperor and Mayhem listed and that just rang a bell, nothing else. Never said anything ugly about all those thousands of other bands.

You could say the same for any genre about, ,and not just in music either. The actions of a handful have nothing to do with the genre itself generally

Sorry, it was the "you" in the quoted part that made me think you were adressing it to me, while "you" can be as neutral as it gets in the English language due to a lack of a word similar to the Dutch word "men".

Anyways, replied to your PM and it's time to do some shopping... cya later!

Black metal, Johnny.
Something like Marylin Manson ?
