Brendon 78/78
Brendon can no longer take the assaults on his senses and his rage wears off quickly. Being left to total vulnerability, Brendon falls into unconsciousness, being left defensless to the viciousness of what is to come. OOC>>>ARCADES!!!HELP!!! |

ruby's movements become very edgey as they get closer. brendon has run ahead and she worries greatly for him, but knows there will be no way she will get through this much longer with that horrendous howling!
she reaches for wyrds mane and pulls him closer to her side. his neck cradled in the curve of her side at her waist. her left hand reaches for ana's arm and pulls her close as well. in a hushed and scared whisper she encourages anarrima to lock arms with her shoulder to should and match pace. "i might be able to protect us from these howls, please give me the chance....." OOC:what ruby is attempting is in the discussion thread...if i can get it to load after i type my response...here is my second attempt at this post.... Anarrima
She barely heard the plea from her friend and companion Ruby. The pain made her nausiated. It reminded her of certain tortures she endured at the hands of the drow years ago. However, heed the demand to come forth, she did, and followed as instructed. |

ruby pulls her friends close and in what feels like forever for her, but likely just a moment for ana and wyrd the sickening, heart wrenching effects of the howling lessen. clear thought and smooth actions became possible again. the sound was there, but the disturbance was like that of a fly who had yet to wear out his welcome.
ruby indicates with her hand while it is still holding onto anarrima that there are shadow giants approaching. "i think perhaps your goddess could help us shortly...." raising an eyebrow ruby appears to be having a conversation with wyrd..."but i think we have a more immediate problem this way..." as she starts to lead the little group a little off the path brendons rage took him. "wyrd says we may have some creepy howlers to deal with, they are headed towards brendon!" [ 03-12-2004, 11:54 PM: Message edited by: RevRuby ] |

As she expected, the Hunger begins to pull upon her Goddess' magic and looking up she shifts to human form...
Catching the banewolves attention, she raises SpiritSword in mock defense to the creature and lures it directly into the warding gate, sending it directly to the Hunger in the ley lines just as she also releases the magic before the Hunger consumes it entirely........ Turning quickly she looks up into the night sky, hearing the soft beat of wings upon the wind in the distance and smiles, reaching up to touch the cloud clasp upon her Warder's cloak........ |

Anarrima 67/67
Turning to find Rhianneth, and seeing that she seemed unphased by all that was going on outsider Ruby's shield, she shrugged it off and decided that the woman must have some hidden powers of protection. Now Ana, Ruby, and Wyrd advanced at a cautious pace, Ana still weakened by the effects of the stunning howls of the unkown beasts. They were in search of the crazed Brendon who seemed to give into rage all too easy when the matters became tough. That worried Ana, for she knew what happened to people that gave into the dark side too often. Pushing these distracting thoughts aside, Ana moved along with the others, thankful for the protective barrier that Ruby was able to conjure. All too soon did they stumble upon the clearing where the dragon was, where they saw Brendon felled upon the ground and two creatures bearing down on him. Off to the other side, a stange-looking woman who was working magic in druidic fashion while a wolf was bearing down on her. The sound of other creatures coming from unseen hiding places made the scene that much more horrible. Ana looked closely at the beasts...or wolves...and what she saw shocked her. They were not even alive, but mere rotten carcases of emptiness. Their flesh had long since faded away and left nothing but dirty and gray rotten matter behind. Their eyes beemed with hatred for thier undead state, and the desire to destroy anything living. Ana realized what she must do, as her Goddess beamed upon her the warm light of revelation. Closing her eyes, she began to pray aloud while Ruby led her forward still. OOC>>>Anarrima has entered into the prayer-state that will attempt to turn away any undead in the area of effect. While diong so, she will not attempt any other move and if she becomes distracted she may lose the prayer. Consider her constantly praying and turning even if I do not post for her in a turn. Ruby can lead her along, and if she is attacked directly, I will take over from there. The DM can determine how close I have to be to begin the turning if it works at all, as well as how close we currently are. Ana has her eyes closed, so she will not see anything happening on the battlefield and Brendon is passed out. Rhianneth! Where are you??? [ 03-13-2004, 06:32 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |

ooc: Time is VERY short so in the interest of keeping things moving I am going to advance things in this battle.
For Ana and Ruby Prayers are murmured and a symbol is held brazenly forward and the words and signs of life place themselves before the collective death that moves within the limbs of these creatures. Life stands forward in power and opposition to death and there is enough substance in its posture that death pauses in its tracks. The fallen human is forgotten for others now command attention and a low growl, a growl as of many voices, sounds within the throat of first one wolf and then the other. Death reaches outward in that sound and large paws begin to move angry bodies forward. Life, it seems, is strong enough to give pause but not so strong as to prevail. The banewolves seem to grin as they move with a steady deliberateness toward the newcomers and the beast that has arrived with them...... ooc: Arcades - You have lost your chance to attack. Ruby and Ana - If these wolves get much closer they will overwhelm your psionic defenses. Act quickly. For everyone They are close and the scent of the dragon is heavy in the air, and something more – the voice of the woman has sounded. Other scents of other lives are present as well, but it is the dragon and the woman that they seek...... |

The Ravine
Mindless and unrelenting it seethes and reaches, an appetite without end, an emptiness that consumes without ever being filled. Life moves once more above, life with power and the drinking of the divine might within the spell awakens a remembered taste, when great and divine life was seized and taken in the distant days when it had first been placed in the ground of these Forums. Below the earth the great doors have swung open once more and the tunnels have been purged of life. Still it reaches and still it seeks and in its reaching it turns once more upward to that place on the surface where the taste of magic still lingers..... |

She holds the SpiritSword in front of her, in a formal salute to the next banewolves, the bracer around her neck still cutting her hearing off from the chilling howls...... She notices the ones she has been waiting for, struggling against the howls, and her eyes glow bright silver reflecting off the standing stones into the night... she reaches up, removing the cloud clasp from her cloak, and places it between her teeth..... Taking her staff in one ungloved hand, she presses the rune carved into her palm against a certain rune on the wood, and slams it into the ground causing the crystal atop the staff to light the clearing, sending a powerful beam of light around and up... Knowing the light will be seen by foe and freind alike, she listens again for the sound of winds, and turns quickly scanning the clearing surveying the situation at hand.... Holding the sword with both hands, she raises it above her head, and screams her battle cry into the wind of this valley for the third time since arriving as the sword begins to send it's own chilling song to the banewolves....... Going ahead and making a move...to protect us any way possible!
Anarrima 67/67 She was startled by the battlecry of her ally with no name and opened her eyes. She did not like what she saw, though the wolves had decided to leave the dragon and Brendon alone...they now were scheming to attack her and Ruby! More wolves on the way and these in front of her, not counting the big one that the Druid was handling, Ana was then more scared than she had been ever in her long life, even at the hands of the drow, for at least the drow were alive! Looking to the sky in tears and making a heartening supplication to her goddess to pull her out of this awful fate, she was blessed with the power of a spell that she needed. Anarrima casts: Searing Light (Level 3) ================================================= Brendon 87/87 What had come over him? Why did he lose his composure and just charge into battle? That was not what he had wanted to do... Brendon lay on his face, with his eyes closed, dreaming of life. Was any of this real? Where was he? Oh yeah...the dragon...and the wolf-things. Brendon pulled his face out of the dirt and spat it out. He looked upward and saw two wolves, one with an arrow sticking out of it's rotting corpse, creeping and growling in the direction of Ruby and Ana, who were glowing with some kind of spell and Ana was screaming something and pointing and now a flash! On the other side, a strange-looking female was also fighting a big wolf-dead-thing...and all around them, battle cries were heard from unseen creatures coming their way. More wolves, no doubt. Brendon sat up and tried to hurry to his feet, fiddling around for his bow, trying to pull himself together and get back into the action. OOC>>> Brendon is suffering a disoriented shock to what just happened to him and will need an additional round to recover. He can be seen literally fumbling around as though he has no idea what to do. Ana has cast her spell but as always I depend on the DM to call the shot.
