Ha ha... Being too poor to buy "real" software like Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop can drive one to learn how to shade in MS Paint (Amazing what the lack of money can do)

Dinonykos: Don't worry, ask away! I not being particularly fond of Japanese monsters is just relative to other monsters - I still like 'em all in general, and will be happy to help you with Japanese monsters as well (I can of course speak Japanese, which also helps.)

Some Japanese monsters are quite interesting - one of my favorites is the "shirime," which appears to be just a normal Buddhist monk... until he suddenly moons you. That is normal (?), except that he has a large single eye where his, um, butt-crack hould be. After shocking the viewer, he then simply runs away.

You've got to try the GIMP. It has all the cool abilities of Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop, but it's absolutely free.

Still, the latter looks more "crystal" to me... The question is, which then?

I think the first one is shaded better, as in the shading stands out more; and therefore I cast my vote on the first one

LB- I don't think that was the tie-breaker, I'm pretty sure that I'm the only one that 'voted' for the dark haired Glasya. Something about devil in a red dress keeps coming to mind.

Crystal Dragon- They both look nice. The first one has a wider range of colors represented, with a greater contrast between the light and the dark. This is what I think the others mean by standing out better. The second one looks more crystalline to me, but also a bit washed-out. If the darkest part of the dragon was the same color as the first, but the shading was left the lighter color, I think that would combine the best of both.
