Arlyth's smile was dark, and he replied to the Kreen, "You would be a fool to judge me... there is more to me then you know. Besting me... would be difficult." the elf's eyes flashed with hatred, "What is your purpose then, X'Cal'lak Xvim X'orm? I am Arlyth, son of Calaethis. Though I doubt you've heard of my father nor his line. I would give you a full account of my linage, but it would be wasted upon you. Put up your weapons and we shall talk... ...in relative peace. If you agree to my terms, you shall not be harmed. You are to put up your weapons and make no hostile moves. Understood? Arlyth's tone held grudging respect. "X'Cal'lak Xvim X'orm; you would do well to respect those with the blood of Dragons within their viens. That aside, do you agree?" Arlyth lowered his sword slightly, and motioned for the others to do the same. If the Kreen was stupid enough to attack, he'd get blasted by ranger and sorcerer magic.

"Ok ... now that didn't sound good at all... rather it was a threat..." He looked at everyone else in the partyl, sighed, and tutned toward the creature. "If you want a portal I can give you a portal to anywhere you want, we'll say free of charge this time eh? Just to get you out of here and out of danger. If you can understand me, click once for interested and click twice for if you want to kill me..."

This tactic proved usefull back in the day when a hive queen once asked him for the quickest route to a good nesting ground.

The twins looked rather hesitant, at putting their swords away, but Alae finally shrugged and slid Isan home, Alaerth following her lead. Alliene, her mother's flail a symbol of her power, did not, but held it in a non threatening way. She gave Arlyth a look,
"A translation would be appreciated so that we can work out an agreement with the kreen. This is the twin's forest after all, not yours." Alliene's vast intelligence had only grown over the centuries, and she could pick up any language within a day by listening to it and then the translation.

Arlyth provided a translation, and informed them that he was in no way attempting to form a treaty with the beast. Then he snarled, "I expect it speaks common; most of their kind speak at least one civilised language but often hide the fact they do..."

The Thri Kreen looked at the arrogant elf after his last statement, and began it's strange chirping clicking speach again, "I understand your common tongue, but speaking it is difficult, and often tiring for my kind, if your great packs would simply grow proper mandibles communication would be much simpler" It ignored the elf's orders and planted it's blades in the ground before it standing up, arms crossed before it.

Arlyth noticed Alliene listened to each translation intently, nodding to herself every so often. She frowned when he was finished,
"Even if the kreen can speak common, it will be about as easy to understand as it's own language." This was confirmed by the kreen's previous statement
Alae stepped forward and put a hand on Arlyth's shoulder, "Xvim, we mean no harm, we only want to ensure the saftey of our friends and steeds. If your tribe was destroyed by drow, we bear you no ill. Slaying you will make us no better than them," She shot an apologetic look at Alliene, who merely smiled her wicked smile, "If you promise not to go near the castle and remain in the woods...and stay away from our horses, then we will leave you be, so we can be on our way." She glanced at her brother, who frowned in thought for a moment, then shrugged and nodded.

Gus decided to not even get invoulved in this whole thing any more and just step back with the others and watch as the negotiations went on.

When Alae put her hand on Arlyth's shoulder, she felt the tension within it. It slowly relaxed under her grip, and the young elf turned and looked into her silver eyes; his own filled with love for her. She could feel him back down, and submit, letting her take the lead.

The hunter inwardly thought about the offer, but then spoke in it's strange language of clicks, whirr's and whistles "I have no pack, our chakak (psionicist) is slain also. My time of wandering is not complete, I offer my services to your great pack (nation). Your people and beasts would be in no danger from me." After speaking she scooped up her swords and sheathed them along with the half dozen or so other miscellaneous weapons she wore on a peculair leather harness built for her unique frame.

Gus decided to take this time to jot down some thoughts on a pice of note paper he'd kept with him.

After completing his little doodle he decided to step back and take a look at it.
"My handwriting's good," He thought, "but my drawing really needs work... I can't tell if that's a Thir-keen or an umber hulk..."
