Nods in response to Kaylisa and begins looking for the coming wolves, eager to bring one or two down by his own claws for what hell they put him though before.

I will guard it, but be careful. I havent many friends left in this world as it is.

For TAOWolf

Out of the gray of evening it bounds, its howl giving way to the snarling of an angry hunger. Dead and lightless eyes stare with a terrifying intensity as it moves and seem to grow even darker and heavier with death as they catch sight of the dragon. It pauses a moment and from within its dessicated throat erupts a tremendous howl that shakes the evening air. Still not having perceived the nearness of the concealed woman it charges forward hungry for the taste of dragon flesh.

The other Banewolves

From diverse directions the howls rise as one by one they perceive and turn. Each of them the angry death of an entire pack. Each of them stalking hunger of a pack of he dead. They run at a furious pace and soon these creatures, each of them the death of many, shall be a gathered pack themselves ......

Other eyes than the eyes of heroes have seen the signal for that is the way of such things and ears other than those of heroes and wolves hear the howling for that too is the manner of things. And long have blades been compared to teeth that bite and tongues that thirst and blades are made ready for a slaughter that promises to be great. And this too is the way of things.

ooc: Some uninvited guests......

OOC>>>Oops! I forgot to get Brendon healed during this trek!

Brendon 25/78

Brendon was weary from the long march that they had been keeping so that they could possibly locate this golden dragon that had been seen nearby. Surely they were close. However, those howls were also closer than he desired. They were becoming quite frightening.

Being the only one in the party besides the lion to have been injured, (and the lion had been healed by Ruby), those howls from the darkness began taking thier toll on Brendon.

He stopped, then fell over.

"I...I cannot do it. I am tired. Those howls...they...do something to me, and I am too weak to avoid it's power. I cannot...move."

He then fell onto his side in fetal position, shivering as though the bite of the grave had overtaken him. Indeed, Brendon thought so.

=================================================

Anarrima 67/67

"Oh how foolish of me! I never brought him up to full health before we began to chase after the dragon! Ruby, if you and Wyrd would keep watch for us, I shall heal him now."

With that said, Ana began casting a spell.

Anarrima casts: Heal (Level 6)

ruby lifts her downcast eyes and nods slowly. her demeanor is more quiet than even her usual, and she seems very sullen.

wyrd paces circles around the group keeping his eyes and ears open.

Hearing the howls of the vile banewolves, Arcades snarls and walks in a circular path around the area, keeping a safe distance from the gateway as he was advised.

His eyes patrol the the forest, taking in the vibrant life that the trees, plants and animals give off, and sees several "dark spots" of unlife moving toward them with great haste.

Yes, come to me, beasts of the darkness. I owe you some retribution.

Reaper

Sunlight at last, the weak light filtering through the cloudcover and the bleak landscape raised his spirits immensely, it was indeed a day for dark deeds to reign supreme, as well as those who did them. His former holy avenger cried out in rage from it's sheath, but without a strong wielder it's power was next to nothing beside Reaper, and he would not be surrendering his trophy to any (it would also serve well if the hag tried to cross him, as it's bite would be just as potent against her as it would against any other psychic or evil creature.) His lightweight elven chain armor was still heavy enough to tire him with his current injuries, but he would not find anything better for a while.

As he considered where to go next he felt new knowledge flood his mind, understanding of a new circle of magicks was revealed to him by his dark patron, muttering a prayer that was more of a vulgar sacrilage than a true prayer he thanked Sithus for the gift. (OOC: Sithus being a homebrewed reigning evil deity from a friend's campaign world, the very friend that got me into roleplaying)

Larry's fallen tower would be a suitable starting point, he knew how to destroy the Hunger, but was more interested in turning it to his own purposes, unlike Larry however he would not let his pride lead him to folly, if the Hunger was uncontrollable, it would be destroyed, but if it could be turned... it would be a deadly tool, the same went for any of the frum's dark denizens, the Giants would be slaughtered for their audacity, but once the example was made the lesser beasts would flock to his banner He would wait to announce himself until after the Hunger had been dealt with. He walked until his strength returned and then set off at a light jog in the direction of the fallen tower, the Hunger had been released there, and it was there that
Reaper would meet it, and show it victory or defeat.

ooc: can I see Arcades flying or any of the other groups running about up here on the surface?

Rhianneth

There was no doubt that her gloomy spirits were dispelled by the welcome change in surroundings; her facial muscles relaxed and she could even manage a stiff smile at whomever chose to lock eyes with her. Yet the dullness that would forever ring resonantly in her heart, would never fade.

Death seemed to be the easiest path out of this miserable existence.

But she could not die now. Not until she had done her part... it would not be long, now.

Glancing about, she counted her companions and herself. More than enough Resistance spells she could afford.

And so, chanting, she began to infuse the remaining group with this cantrip spell, hoping that it would prove useful when they next charged into combat with whatever enemies they would soon meet...

Brendon 78/78 and Anarrima 67/67

Brendon had been healed of the misery, but the howls were no less potent. The deadly venom in that sound remained as a weight upon the shoulders of every creature or person that heard it. They were so close now that it began to make Brendon weep. Indeed, Anarrima had begun as well, for the howls were painful and sickening. It was no use covering one's ears, the terrible sound found its way into them, to fester and torment the mind.

Anarrima tried to think of a spell that would protect them from the sounds of the howling but she could not concentrate. Her head hurt too bad. It appeared that nothing she could do would call a prayer to mind.

"I am useless! I cannot think with those howls, and they sound as though they are upon us just any minute! Goddess! Save us!"
