Arlyth was getting bored. How long would this hunt take. His katana was out, and his wakazashi was at hand, ready for him to grab... he could cast a spell in an instant, and all they did was move deeper into the forest. This was most annoying. Not only that, he was hidden from sight, sound, and any means of scrying. He continued to track the Kreen. He should find it fairly soon. He hoped.

The hunter knew the flesh bags were closing in, this hunt was drawing near to it's end, and so the kreen merely turned around, sat down, being careful that it would be able to leap if those chasing it proved to be too dangerous, and drew all four of it's weapons in preparation for the hopefully scattered prey's attack, the weapons were held wide in a manner that would invite the creatures following it to (hopefully) converse before attacking.

The Kreen, felt the flesh bags come to a stop not far. Then 5 of them emerged from the trees. One dark skinned elf carried a 6-headed flail, one nothing at all, and the other 3 a variety of swords. The kreen could smell elven flesh on four of them. The two silver-haired ones had hardly any elvish scent compared to the dark skinned one and the young pale one. One of the silver-hairs stepped forward, looking angry,

"What are you doing in this forest, kreen?" Alaerth demanded of it. The thing had too many weapons for his liking, but at least it didn't appear to be hostile...yet.

Arlyth sidled closer to Alae, until he was at her side, his swords still drawn, his brow creased in concentration, ready to unleash a barrage of spells on command. Casting a sidelong whisper to his cousin, more of a quiet hiss he demanded, "Why aren't we attacking it?" his snarl implied anger and hatred. Arlyth's tone implied just how much he loathed the 'Kreen.

A series of low clicks and whistles proceeded from the mouth of the thri-kreen as it's head tilted and it's antennae moved a very subtle odour began emanating from the kreen. (those who speak kreen would understand that she said "greetings meat-sack you hunt as one worthy of the hunt. My pack was destroyed by the blackened ones and I seek retribution, you have one among you. May I eat him?")

Gus decided to break the awkward silence with what he could assume, "There were many an insect-like critter in the upper plains, and I might not speak his very language but judging by the clicks he uses, I'd say this creature holds a grudge... a vandetta... and it has something to do with the dark elf... well ok maybe that's an assumption, but he is looking at her... with spite mostly... I think..."

*edit spelling*

ooc-morgy, Alliene is the dark elf, and Alliene is female . Also /)k, Morgy's char is female, lol

"Calm yourself, Arlyth. So far the creature hasn't proved it deserves our hostility. We do not raise blades against it until it does."

Alliene scowled and lifted her chin defiantly,
"Most of the surface races have grudges against the drow, void mage. I suspect maybe the kreen witnessed or was part of a surface raid. The acadamies oversee those kind of things, not the great houses." She cast her cold glare at the kreen and back to Gus, "I don't like the way it's looking at me. You seem to understand it well enough. Can you tell it that any attempt at eating me will be a waste of its life?"

Well... Back in the day when I used to taxi people around I belive they said ctch'krt'ktk'rkt'krr which meant 'take me to the plane with sugar-water seas...' I don't think that would do much good now... But umm..." Gus turned and looked at the unusual creature... He then muttered a series of clicks and took a few steps back hoping the dialect was somewhat similar. "I think I just asked him if he'd like a glass of sugar water... Well it's the kindest thing I could come up with!"

Arlyth scowled, "It is a Thri-kreen - they eat elven children. They eat the flesh of other sentient beings; thats more then enough to deserve our enimity!" then he hissed, "And look how it stares at Alliene. It would like nothing better then to kill her," he paused, then snarled, "I've had dealings with this vile race in the past... we should destroy it; before it can destroy us. It will betray us if we allow to live." Then Arlyth looked directly at the beast and snarled in it's own language, "Petty creature; you are no match for our might; explain your purpose here, or begone. If you envoke hostilities, you shall be destroyed. Attacking the dark one would be a waste of your life... but go ahead. Do it. The less of your kind around, the better!" Though Alae, Alaerth & Alliene couldn't understand what Arlyth was saying, his tone was clear. He was taunting the thing after questioning it. One had to wonder at his personal hatred of the Thri-kreen, and how he had learnt their customs and language. "Well?" he demanded, "State your being; who are you? Why are you here?" The young elf turned his attention to Gus, and replied in common, "Keep silent fool! If you have nothing constructive to say, then do not speak! Let me deal with this abomination." turning his attention back to the Kreen, he finished, "I must appologise for my... comrade's ignorence. He is foolish. Do you respect our might, or do you want a confrontation? The choice is yours. Answer my questions; or face me in combat." the elf's eyes held a definate light in them, and the Kreen could sense he wanted nothing more then to slay it. Hatred washed over from the elf in waves.

The kreen looked at the strange creature that just offered to drink nectar from the veins of a dragon, and emitted a series of puzzled clicks and whistles.

The elf had responded in a dialect of Thri-kreen, it's inflection was a little unfamiliar, but regional differences in anatomy was largely responsible, some kreen lived in the arid wastes, and had a more rasping tongue, and others lived in the dry steppes frequently conflicting with plainsmen and the mounted raiders that shared the land, X'Cal'lak Xvim X'orm on the other hand was from a group that had adapted to rainforests, her exoskeleton occasionally picked up chitin-rot from the humidity, but a good mindbender could cure it in no time.

Responging to the angry elf Xvim replied "I am X'Cal'lak Xvim X'orm, although my pack calls me merely Xvim, I am here on a matter of great importance and while I do not eat elves I have heard of this practice. Know that only in rare times and circumstances do kreen resort to eating sentient beings, and yes, even a fool like YOU count as sentient, you may perhaps mean our use of organs of your kind as you would use herbs, brutal, perhaps, but I'm sure the herbs believe you are brutal savages for your practices, it's a brutal world we live in. If you wish to attack me it will be you who falls this day, unless your pack attacks as well. The hunt is before you, how you approach it proves your measures, fleshling"
