SIR BLANDAMOUR (To Sanael) "Yes, an unusual one is Sir Mandracus. He was a knight for several years, then became inerested in the dark powers of our enemies. He gave up the sword for the magical laboratory, and studied the arts magical for many years. 'Tis said that he can scry out the movements of the Order's enemies. But, about poor Roxanne's case, there are heavy tidings. He fears him or her to be a magical being, possibly infused with the black magic of that cursed lich. We shall bring the babe to him for him to discern its doom, good or fell. Ah, well, I shall not think on that now. We are to return tomorrow to find out about that amulet. Until then, I suppose we can rest and renew our supplies."

ELIZA "Since we have time, let us go to that shop where I saw that face staring at me. I know that it means something, and would face it rather than run away." (She loosens her sword in its scabbard.)

*They go off down the street to the small shop where Eliza had seen the face. It seems a harmless enough place, with striped curtains over open windows. A few tables are on the sidewalk, and a bill of fare is prominently displayed. After going in, they are greeted by an apple-cheeked old woman with white hair in a bun.* "Good afternoon, dearies, can I interest you in a cup of tea and a scone or biscuit?"

ELIZA (Looks around suspiciously) ""Is there a bathroom in back, ma'am? I'd really like to freshen up."

ELIZA(laughs) "I have just come in from a month in the field. Anything would be all right." (She looks around in back, pretending to use the toilet, finds nothing but food preparation items, notices that there is nothing wrong with the jakes.)

THE OLD WOMAN (She settles the group in the chairs, then takes their orders. Eliza orders toast and tea. When she has made the tea, she opens a blue phial and empties it into the tea, and then serves it.

SIR BLANDAMOUR (As the old woman serves Eliza's tea, he is jarred to see the hand that holds the saucer. Unlike the other, it is smooth, young, and has sharply pointed nails. He has a moment of cognitive dissonance, refusing to believe his eyes, then snaps back to reality. He dashes the tea from the "old woman's" hand, splattering it over the wall, and whips out Cold Iron, which snakes to the "old woman's" throat.) "Treachery! Disguise! Do not touch the food, anyone." (He holds up the difering hand as evidence.)
