Well, she should have, but she didn't. Much smoother without her, here, and we are all relieved. Have a pina colada on me!

I'll have that Pina in a bit, Attalus A good way to finish out the week here.

Cloudy, you've got my sympathies. At this point, I'd be sorely tempted to ask to speak not to the manager, but to someone competent... they are *NOT* the same thing. I'd ask them what they (HR, not this manager) would like to do so you don't walk away an unhappy customer, and they don't walk away as unhappy business owners. One of my options would be that you take the glasses to your optometrist, he or she does them, and they pay for it.

After that, publicity about what's going on could be helpful. DO you have one of those consumer advocate TV reporters in ALbany? This would be the kind of thing they love to go after so they can win one for the little guy...

PS Tell Nacht not to kill anyone unless he's got a really good place to bury the body...

Hubby has spoken to his HR person and since his company owns the one we went to- they are going to (may already have) contact the store and let the manager know in no uncertain terms that providing shoddy merchandise, then saying 'well, we can't fix it so here's your benefit back even though it's last years and won't do you any good' isn't an acceptable solution.

Supposedly we're to check back in a week to get the glasses. I may have my optometrist check my vison in them if I have any doubts...better safe than sorry. And then we won't be doing business there again. The higher ups will certainly hear about how difficult the whole incident was. It's just absurd to me that vision care store that not only sells glasses and contacts but also has doctors that do exams too, could sell such poorly made stuff and then NOT fix their mistakes when caught! Sheesh!

PS: ROTFL... re Nacht and bodies : The poor guy was livid but he told me he restrained himself and didn't shout or curse or pound on the counter...but he wanted to! He said he felt he was getting the royal runaround and the woman did a fine 'softshoe' around all his requests/questions!

edit: Oh and your option of having my optometrist fix their mistake- yup, we've considered it and my hubby wants to do that if they can't get it right but we'll have to see what his insurance people say.

You can inform them that they can pay for it themselves, or they can do it through small claims court. Either way, you'll end up with proper glasses. They'll find it far cheaper to take care of the problem.

Don't forget the local consumer advocate reporter either. Even if you just mention their name, that could be enough. I mean, who wants to be featured on the news as the company and/or person that was trying to stick it to the little guy...

BTW, the Pina Colada was good, Attalus, even if it turned out to be a bit smaller than I would have preferred Tomorrow morning we leave, and it's back to Mundania...

Not little old me...

I guess this picture would be almost as bad, then.

Those are my roommate's flags, btw...and if you look real close, you can see some reclaimed desk space on my desk, thanks to that monitor I was talking about.

...and I'm short. And my roommate, mister 6'3" took the picture.

No, I'm doomed to a maximum height of 5 feet six or seven inches. I'm not Tom Cruise short, but I'm fairly short.

The last time I was 5'7 I was 12 lol. But being short does have its advantages - I can't imagine that my 6'5 frame would work very well in a place like Japan...

Ah, a nice long weekend of doing very little. Started writing my history paper on the reasons for the downfall of the samurai, and played a lot of Baldur's Gate. My dad's out in Ottawa visiting my illegitimate half-brother, so it's sort of quiet. Minus, I suppose, the cat having a vomiting fit right on an expensive leather chair. ICK!

There ARE advantages to being short...couple that with being the second strongest in my group of friends, and I don't come out too bad...being stocky rocks!

Speaking of being built for manual labor...I built fence this weekend...that involved carrying wooden "posts," and by "posts" I mean sections of tree trunks we drafted into service at keeping our cattle contained...catches me up on my manual labor for a while...now, if only I could catch up on the sleep I've missed.
