The great oak somehow smiled
"I can aid you, to an extent, but as with you, my memory has also been affected. I know something, but not everything. I know that your answer lies to the north, within the mountains, however. This much, I can sense. I know also of a being who dwells within the mountains who is uneffected by this enchantment that has swept throughout the land." The mighty tree sighed again, "I cannot tell you how to regain your memories, for in truth, I do not know... but I can aid you, somewhat. First of all, who amounst you is willing to accept my blessings?" Aeriah who had remained silent finally spoke and knelt before the mighty oak, "Thank you for your time, ancient one." Nodding, he answered, "As you will, and gladly. My thanks." Kyr squeeked that she too, would accept the tree's blessings and thanked the oak, for once being respectful. "Are we going to the mountains next? How do we get there?" "The mountains are through the forest... continue on your course, three days hence, to the west, follow the river to the north, and after a tenday, you shall reach the base of the mountain. You may reach there faster or slower depending on your pace. I wish you well. You two have my blessings." from the tree's boughs, some acorns fell. "Make use of these, if you will. When you throw them upon the ground, you can command roots to grow from the earth and entangle your foes." turning his gaze to Able, he added, "Do not think to use necromancy with these seeds, for nature does not take well to the undeath spells. Dire consequences may occur, ones that even I cannot forsee." [ 11-03-2004, 09:11 PM: Message edited by: Calaethis Dragonsbane ] |

Fairioni asks quietly as she stares up into the night air, a smile on her face as she looks at the oak and curtesies "Would it be possible for me to recieve a blessing as well?" She smiles as she looks at the rest of them, remarking quietly "Able, this might seem like a silly question, but .. why are you a necromancer again?"

Drusalia 11/11
She smiles at how the forest was putting the necromancer at unease. Visibly she wasn't the only one who had problems with him. "I shall also accept your blessings, mighty oak, should you still give them." [ 11-04-2004, 02:14 PM: Message edited by: dplax ] |

"Of course," the great tree smiled, and added, "Not that you need my blessings, Faironi..." he added cryptically. Addressing all of them except Able, he intoned, "As you wish, you have my blessings..." A faint light swept over them, filling them with an eerie green hue which glowed brightly for a moment and then faded, and all of them could feel the forest's power within them, but to what effect, they were not sure of - as of yet.
Turning to the necromancer, Aln’aeor asked "And you, human, do you accept my blessings as well?" --- OOC: Please check your PMs people, and update your sheets appropriately. Don't forget to add one acorn each. [ 11-04-2004, 03:07 PM: Message edited by: Calaethis Dragonsbane ] |

Drusalia 22/22
Drusalia felt a new strength infuse her and she felt somehow strangely healthier. She realised that this was most likely the oak's blessing. She picked up her acorn from the ground and then bowed to the oak. "I thank you for your blessing, wise one. May your roots always find enough nutrients and water!" Artelm 12/12
Aretlm listened to the wise oak's words, and figured he might aswell get himself a blessing too. He wasn't particularly supersticous, but afterall, there could be no harm. Observing from the back, he made himself more noticed. "May I also have a blessing from you? It seems we can all do with all the help we can get." Artelm waited to see what he would be given. Faironi bows "Thank you, wise oak." and is slightly confused about what the oak meant but says nothing as she stands back, a puzzling expression filling her face.

(OOC: sorry about being out so long, my internets been giving me trouble)
Able Typhonious 11/12 After a lot of forehead vein massaging able spoke up, "Frankly, I don't plan to use any plant-related abilities, as my dealings are in the flesh and bone. Even upon the penalty of losing my chance to extend my life with plants I will not utelize anything so..." he paused... "sacred," he finally managed to say, "as these seeds..." Able slowly aproached the tree. He sighed and after a long pause said, "Old... wise tree." He spoke softly through gritted teeth. "It... would..." able started twitching. "Delight me..." he said with a highly unrealistic tone, "to receive your blessing..." he said quickly after a little more twitching. He turned tot he others and with a glare said, "I'd just like you all to know... I'm doing this for knowledge... and knowledge alone!" He prepared himself to receive the trees blessing. Aln'aeor gave Able an icy look and reprimanded, "You are as close to evil to anyone who has ever graced these hallowed forests. Have a care, animator of the dead, for those who stray too far into death's realm often become as death itself and you shall no longer be 'living' in the true sense of the word. You are also foolish, necromancer - Seeking knowledge for power's sake is a dangerous course. Have a care, lest you find yourself spiralling down on the path of destruction. Not all things can be answered - in this life, or in death's realm. Those who cannot accept this, often go mad."
With a sigh, the great oak paused, "Normally, I would not give such a blessing to one as disrespectful, self absorbed or one who’s only interest in their own gain, but it was offered freely, and thus, I am bound by my word." Addressing the entire party, Aln’aeor continued, "Each of your abilities shall match and compliment your skills and personality in some form or other. To that end, as you grow and develop, so shall they." Smiling down at the halfling benevolently, Aln’aeor finished, "Of course not, small one." The remaining two, Able and Artelm felt the tree’s magicks course through them and whilst Artelm found it a strangely refreshing feeling, Able did not. To the necromancer, the tree’s magicks stank of life so vividly, he could not help but think of his own mortality… Eventually, after what seemed like an eternity, Able was freed from the eerie greenish light and the elves were looking at him strangely. ~~~ Aeriah thanked the oak once again, bowed low and set off without bothering to wait for the others. He seemed distant, lost in thought and highly reflective. As he left, Aln’aeor called out "Should you find a stone gateway ringed with six statues, it will take you to other such rings. However, in order to work it, you will need a talisman, or a statue. There is said to be one hidden within these forests near the bass of the mountains. Such a portal could cut down your journey by days. This is all I know and I wish you the very best with your quest. Perhaps this titbit of knowledge will aid you." Then the tree fell silent, the face fading back into the bark. For once, Kyr was silent, although the little pixie was not flying with her companion, instead choosing to sit on Faironi’s shoulder. --- OOC: Ok, just to recap, this is what everyone gets: Innate Abilities*: (1/day) Hypnotism - Drusalia Faerie Fire - Faironi Cure Light Wounds - Kyr True Strike – Verrion Bless Weapon - Aeriah Pass Without a Trace - Artelm Inflict Light Wounds - Able *cast as a spell without using any spell slots, level 1 caster Aeriah +1 Str Verrion +1 Int Faironi +1 Wis Drusilia +1 Con Artelm +1 Wis Able +1 Dex Quest: Level up - Also, Salia, at level 3 you get another feat – you forgot to add one. Also, I'm not altogether sure what the rest of you want to do now, so I'll let you post and then write another "DM" post, k? |
