Taking the blood, she shifts into wolf form, and sprints to the east away from the ley lines, in search of one of the banewolves...
the moonstone around her neck reflects the dwindling sunlight, and begins to glow a soft silver.. |

Zhydo’rah
She laughs at his question, the tones of her mirth scraping across each other like pieces of broken glass. A malicious delight burns in her eyes as she studies him over her laughter. “Ah! Yes, the Hunger,” her speech is harsh and guttural and profanes the very air from which it forms its words. “The gods, my powerful friend, favor not the mighty but the clever ..... yet you still refuse to perceive what is obvious to any with eyes to see. You have made the Hunger into a threat! You and the mage whose fear reopened this game!” Again she laughs. “Well have you been named ‘Fallen’, O man! Even your misguided heroism has brought nothing but horror in its wake – small wonder then that terrible powers have taken notice of you ...... Fallen, indeed, but even you do not suspect how far......” Once more the blasphemous tones of her speaking fall away into laughter. “But how rude of me,” she smiles, the cunning malice in her eyes winking at him, “You have asked me a question and I delay in giving answer.” Her bearing and tone change suddenly, becoming confrontational. “You shall accomplish nothing so long as you remain such a fool! Think! Would the one who placed the Hunger into the soil have created a weapon against which he had no defense? And, why, O man, O Fallen, why do you suppose the Hunger lies buried? Buried under a collapsed cliff in the most lightless Ravine in this place of darkness? And those grasses, those strange and quiet little grasses that once were so strong as to rob even the Hunger, what would they have done if allowed to grow? A pity they have been destroyed!” Her bearing relaxes and she smiles at the dawning insight in his eyes. “That is all that I shall say, however, for such things are best not spoken in the wakefulness of even so lightless a day as this.” She turns her head suddenly. “Ah! Those sounds would be your former companions, I believe .....” With a smile her aspect loses its tangibility and she is vanished from sight. |

He waits for several minutes after his friend's departure with his blood before he makes his decent from the mountain, quickly moving tward where he saw the mining dwarfs carrying away loads of dark stone.
The dragon lands a safe distance from the mine and uses his power of shapeshifting to take the form of a dwarf, walking into the mine as one of the workers. He walks up to one of the lead miners and speaks gruffly to him I'm here to haul the next load to the surface. |

For Arcades
It did not take long to grasp the mannerisms of the dwarves for dragons are both long-lived and well-schooled in the art of studying those who might pose a threat. Still, however, even for one so skilled as a dragon an imposture of so unusual a creature as one of these dwarves could not succeed on so little notice were it not for the hurried and relentless pace of the work. And so it is that stone has been surrendered into an impostor’s hands ..... ..... Hurried they are, these dwarves, and focused upon their work. There is, therefore, little time for the impostor to think as a voice calls for him to be quick about bringing the stone forward ..... ooc: Time to think quickly and act with cleverness. |

Reaper
The Hag had raised a few interesting points, but now was not the time to dwell on it, he sensed, as she had, that others were approaching, moving quickly, ducking into the shadows he watched them rush past, careless in their flight, and he stepped out of the shadows and followed them, not fleeing recklessly, but running at an easy measured pace that would not leave him breathless if he had to fight. His sword was placed once more within it's sheath, so they would not see his appearance as dangerous (those sensitive like Ruby and Wyrd will recognize palpable waves of darkness coming off of him, Ana should also be able to feel the touch of dark gods on Reaper). |

Arcades walks into a tunnel in the mine, obviously smaller than the main tunnel and completely lined with the dark stone. Upon closer inspection of the stone, he smells the scent of his fellow dragons on it, particularly the scent of a dragon's hoard.
He narrows his eyes at this disturbing information and slips a piece of the stone into his clothes. Without drawing too much attention, he make note of weaknesses in the tunnel and takes a rock hammer from the ground, and mimics the work of the other dwarves, biding his time untill the majority of the stoneworkers occupy this one tunnel. |

For Arcades
Stone such as this requires a rare skill to cut and shape and dusky eyes burn with a fierce pride as skilled hands do more than merely cut and shape this stone. Despite the terrible magic which has blended the stuff of shadow into the very bones of these former slaves an intense and defiant dwarvish love of stone and labor manifests itself. Their movements are as natural as they are ceaseless and there is a sinister and genuine artistry about this conduit of stone, a conduit of many pieces yet of no seams that they are producing. The stern cadences of a song, the song of their slavery and now the song of their freedom drift upward as the final great blocks arrive, blocks that shall be crafted into a door not unlike that behind which the devouring emptiness of the Hunger has been closed off below the surface. One after another their voices join the singing and it is only the arrival of the great blocks and the singing of the song that prevent the recognition of the imposter who possesses no skill at stonecraft. Sevvord, the master cutter has arrived and soon, with the fitting of the doors into place all shall be ready. And it’s go boys go they’ll time your every breath and every day you’re in this place you’re two days nearer death. But you goooooooooooooooooo. They sing, these dwarves, for a great work draws close to completion. |

Upon seeing the sturdy craftsmenship of the dwarven tunnel, and the places of the structural weaknesses, Arcades abandons his original plan of simply exploiting these weaknesses.
New plans begin working themselfs out in Arcades' mind, spying a few barrels of explosives the dwarves most likely use for blasting new tunnels. He slowly back up tward the exit of the dark stone tunnel, his eyes becoming yellow with slitted pupils as he does. Once into the main tunnel again, Arcades takes his dragon form at about half it's original size, which is still a great deal larger than any dwarf. Blocking the entrance/exit of the dark stone tunnel with his head, he begins drawing in breath for a blast of fire. Just before the stream of white fire fills the tunnel, he sees the looks of sheer terror on the dwarves' faces, more for the destruction of their great work than the end of their lives. The flames quickly reach the end of the tunnel and ignite the barrels of powder, focusing the concussion back in the old dragon's face, but causing no serious harm to his thick scales. He pulls his head back and swings it around, hearing angered shouts from the shadowgiants. Hmm, I knew I wouldnt make it out of here safely, but there was no other way. Arcades readies himself for the impending fight. ooc: Hope this works better than my last one. [ 03-04-2004, 01:47 AM: Message edited by: ArcadesSabboth ] |

Elethias
As they fled upwards and forwards, the elf got a prickling on the back of his neck, they were not alone, as he looked around hurriedly he saw a large human figure appear from the shadows and give chase, "must be fleeing the giants as well" thought the elf, they were nearing the surface and his original mission had failed, but perhaps there were some Duergar refugees that had survived, a group that had been out mining when the attack came, if they existed his sword would be quenched before his swords enchantment began to wane. The Air was fresher now, as though a real wind had found it's way to the surface, had they finally broken through? It didn't matter, but he felt much better with the fresh air bringing the memory of grasses, flowers, and other plants to his minds eye. |

Faster and faster she lopes, blending into the forest shadows as she runs nearer to her prey...... she has sensed one of the banewolves..alone...... she howls into the wind, announcing herself but knowing the bane will not see her......yet......as the clasp still covers her.
She begins to drop the dragons blood seemingly randomly on the ground till she nears her destination. A lone grove of oaks in the middle of the dead forest. One massive oak has withstood the assault of the shadow and hunger. She stops below it, shifting back and stands. Holding her staff in front of her, she gently taps the ground two times and watches as two slender stepping stones appear thru the ground in front of her................ |
