Just bought Wiz 8 and loving it! Patrick here, I am 38, live in Santa Rosa, California (about an hour north of San Francisco). I work as a sys admin and I am single. Been wasting my time playing games since high school Started with AD&D, first computer game was Wizardry haha. Just kicked the EverQuest habit, played that for a bit over 3 years. Now I split my spare time between my cat and Wiz 8, lol.

Thought I'd say hi.

I live here in Toronto with my wonderful Girlfriend, play lots O' video games and watch the Maple Leafs when I'm not being a network admin downtown. Hows that for brief synopsis?

I turned 31 a couple of weeks ago and bought Wizardry 8 for a birthday present.

At first I wasn't to thrilled with the game but now I can't stop playing it. I've played Might & Magic (6,7 & 8) over and over again
and just needed to get used to the way the W8 works. There are still some things that kinda bug me but thats for another thread.

Moni: I have a dear friend named Moni who happens to be Egyptian and loves cats. Thought you were her untill i saw you were from Texas.

Hi all,

My name is Lok. I am 24 years old, have been playing CRPGs since I was a kid. Started out with the legendary Pong console, C64, Amiga, 386, pentium, and so on. Also play consoles. First RPGs were the SSI ones, liked the Krynn series the most. (loved getting that dragonlance!) Also loved the Bards Tale series. First RPG that got me into the whole thing was probably Legend of Faerghail, anyone remember that one?!

Anyway, I live in the Netherlands, Europe, but I am currently in Taiwan for study. I am from chinese origin, but born and raised in the Netherlands. Lucky me, I don't think wiz8 is out in the Netherlands yet .. but too bad the d-mn Taiwan version has a different distributor who has a different cd protection system so I cannot use the patches issued by sir-tech.

finished wiz7, waited years for wiz8 and kept my savegames for a couple of years. unfortunately i moved a couple of times and i am currently in taiwan right now so i don't know if i will ever find my old savegames again ... *sigh*

well, nice to meet you all!

cheers,
lok

Heh, the Krynn series. My sad friend played Death Knights(?) of Krynn so many times over with the same party, he had a dragonlance on every character! There was one fight where he encountered a dracolich, meant to be one of the toughest monsters and immune to all spells. He just moved his characters up to it and hit it twice, killing it. The dragonlance spoiled that game I reckon

Didnt get to play the Bards tale series (I only got a PC in 92, so I came in too late for it?) but liked Legend of Faerghail. It even looks like you spelled it right...I started drawing up maps for its large areas. I got sick of all the bugs in the game thou, shame.

Hi Leon!
Didn't we e-mail about W&W once or twice?! I am glad I could be of some help to you! Its nice to see you here at the Wiz 8 forum!

Rokenn,
LOL Wiz 8 always gets more time huh?
My cats hate me

Jarngrimr,
Excellent synopsis.
Happy Belated Birthday!
I am officially 40 now.
I am glad you are enjoying the game!
LOL Does every Moni on the planet love cats? There is another one of us in FL that I've been mistaken for too.

Lok
Good Luck getting those old savegames! If it makes you feel any better, I didn't lose mine...I wrote over them!

Strider_314,
I bet you can still find the first Bard's Tale on a NES cartridge.
Good Luck finding the NES to play it on!
Seems to me the last Bard's Tale game wass released within the last three years. It shouldn't be impossible to find.

Here is a link to a Bard's Tale Webring...someone somewhere should be able to hook you up with more info if you want to ask around.

I hear ya! As much as I loved the first Bard's Tale, I haven't played any since. If I happened across one in a used software store I'd be tempted to check it out though.

My son still has an NES too! One that a friend of his gave him a couple of years ago. It still "works" but you have to stick a screwdriver under the game to make it play.
