It seems to be happening to me more and more often now - virtually every time I visit the forum.

It usually takes between half an hour to one hour to get back in.

For example it happened three times on the 22nd and already twice today (the 23rd of January).

Yesterday I had none, I was hopeful that whatever you'd done had fixed it! But I just was able to get back in after about a half hour error

Nope, not a single error since yesterday, GMT 18 00. Nice.

I just had the forums down for the past 30 minutes or so. I'm sure it wasn't just me because the number of visiters atm is low.

AH! Well what I did seems to have helped or fixed it for some! What I did, was turn OFF the Windows 2000 DHCP software, and turn on the router hardware DHCP. I Did look in the error log, and see 98% less timeout errors BTW! Before we had 20 a day, and now, I Saw just 2 for a 24 hr period! Hmmm.. I'll note this in my logs for future reference! Keep me updated--BTW, sometimes a very high-peak times you may get slow or a timeout, but that is a bandwidth issue I'm sure, and those don't last long. DHCP issues 'packets' to each IP that is incoming, and the 'lease' runs out after so many hours/days, so it's Off, meaning there is no longer ANY controling of IP nodes incoming.

Did ya get that? wee!

Actually, I just kicked the server until I didn't see errors! (heh...)

Just had the same old gateway timeout error. Ross_bg2_rox had it as well at the same time, probably coincidence since normaly only the one of us will get it.

Had the timeout problem about 4 hours ago. I have been getting this about every two to four days for a couple of months.
I just discovered that you can hold onto a post by minimising it & coming back a couple of hours later.

the timeout problem always (in my experience) goes away if you just reconnect to the net.

Same here Ross. I can try and try for 20 minutes and not get back in OR I can reconnect and get in instantly. Ziroc that's good news, I haven't gotten anything since I posted that last one!
