She blinked involuntarily, the pools in her eyes radiating light ~ "I... I'm from the sea-elven city..." ~ She breathed somewhat uneasily, wary of potential pursuants ~ "With my brother, I took a journey to Darkcreek." ~ A tear rolled down her pale cheeks ~ "There were so many undead there, so different it is now from the historical landmark that others spoke of..."

She trembled violently in memory of the last moments ~ "My brother died, saving me... he hurled me on... towards the woods... the woods where I have just lost my own life in." ~ Eyeing the apprentice druid sorrowfully, she continued ~ "They were horrifying!" ~ Her face crumpled again ~ "I.. I can't even begin to describe their appearances"" ~ Burying her head in her hands.

"I just want to forget this nightmare..." ~ And she burst into tears again, feeling extremely foolish.

He started to feel guilt and anger at the same time. The guilt was from worrying about foolish nightmares while this elf was had been going through hell. His teeth clenched in anger from what the undead had did to her. The anger started to cool off though as he saw her crying again. He took a step towards her and gently placed his hand on her shoulder. "There is a village not far from here. It would do you good to get some rest."

"O.... okay..." ~ Hurriedly wiping her face, she sniffles and follows the handsome elf down the lane towards the community that he had spoken of.

Perhaps life can be bearable after all, despite the loss...

They followed the crude trail he had made from walking through the forest earlier. The light coming from the tavern windows greeted them as they emerged from the woods. "Here we are" he led her to the empty tavern. "Now to get you a room," walking over to Barder, he gave him just enough coins for one. He smiled and handed her a worn key. "Room ten is all yours."

As her grubby hand grasped the key, she looked up at him, her voice faltering ~ "I... " ~ There was no shaking off the dread, despite the weariness ~ "I think I'll take a rest later... I..." ~ She looked at her toes miserably ~ "Do you think you could keep me company for a while? I don't want to be alone again... not so soon."

He nodded, "I don't mind." Waving for her to follow him, he sat down at a table near the window. His gaze watched the woman in front of him. Sorrow was clearly written on her beautiful elven face. His anger started to rise again. Why did the world choose all the wrong people for horrible things to happen to? He grumbled to himself then felt her eyes on him. With an embarrassed cough, he looked over at her. "I don't think we've introduced our selves yet. I'm Teveriel."

"Teveriel?" ~ She managed a weak smile as she pronounced his name. It was a a lilting one indeed, and she tried to push back the misery from her voice ~ "I'm Ariel." ~ Her cheeks reddened as her hand made contact with his ~ "So, are you an inhabitant here or are you a visitor, just like me?"

She played with the cup handle subconsciously, her eyes almost unable to continue looking into his. ~ "Oh, and thank you for saving me, by the way.. w... where have my m... manners gone?!" ~ Exasperation now mingled with deepened embarassment, causing her to begin stammering.

His face reddened some when her hand had touched his. He took a deep breath as he continued to watch her. "I'm visiting here with some friends." The elf was glad that the tavern was empty but for Barder. His curiosity then got the best of him, "So what do you plan to do tomorrow?"
