Since for some reason i cannot post a new topic, i thought id post this here.

A few weeks back my party was traveling in the underdark. in the quest to kill the powerful Tanar'ri, the Balor from the gnome village, i got this idea of trying out a duel between a Pit Fiend and a Balor, so i had anomen summon up a Pit Fiend to try it out. The question im asking you is, which one won. Just to prevent you from guessing, you have to explain WHY that particular Demon/Devil would win. I think Memnoch will know this.

It must have something to do with weapon immunities/enchantments.
Dont remember anymore, but it might just be that our pitfiend doesnt have claws that count as +3 or higher ?

So.. my vote's for the balor

Impressive that Tiamat got only 10 DEX....even my wizard has more DEX than that...anyway, he surely has little use for it...IŽd rather NEVER run into those beasts!

By the way Menmoch...this may be off-topic but...do u know what kind of food dragons eat? I mean, to sustain that amount of flesh and blood require ALOT of food...and I havenŽt ever seen a dragon going out just to eat...

If this is very off-topic, u can send me a private message...

Most dragons are omnivorious to an extreme degree. And yes they need a lot of food to sustain themselves. It is the reason why older (and larger) dragons tends to sleep for so long times. Otherwise they would need more food than they could realistically acquire.

Many dragons has a favourite diet though:

Red dragons: Anything that begs not to be eaten. The more important the person, the better the meal.

Black dragons: Fish, especially fish who are allowed to spoil a little. They disdain any fresh meat usually allowing it to "pickle".

White dragons: Large creatures, especially those containing lots of fat. They prefer their food deep frozen.

Blue dragons: Any kind of herd animals. They also have a taste for humans.

Green dragons: Elves and hill giants. (Hill giants also consider green dragons a delicacy).

Shadow dragons: Any food that is thoroughly rotten.

Gold dragons: Gems.

Silver dragons: Well prepared food, like that which humans and demihumans usually eat.

Brass dragons: The morning mist and cacti.

Bronze dragons: Sharks and seaweed (they probably would like sushi).

Copper dragons: Poison, especially venomous monsters.

correct! that really suprised me though, as the pit fiend is the highest ranking Baatezu below the Arch-Devils and such. One would think they could atleast HURT the Balors. Is it like this in the "real world"(meaning the Forgotten Realms world), or can the Pit Fiends actually hurt the Balors?

Soooooo everyone, what would be a good offense to banish one of these things! Obviously one cannot kill these (maybe you can but it begs to get into a theo. debate as to what would happen if the LORD OF DARKNESS and his minions were destroyed?)

looking at the stats this would be vary interesting..

My bet will go on the Balor, because in my own experience in the forgotten realms world I got more problems dealing with a balor then a pit fiend... this is indeed awkard because the Pit fiends are in highter ranking then the balor aren't they?...

The balor has to be hit with enchanted weapons +4 or higher IIRC?

I'm not sure what you need to finish a Pit fiend but... it is lower isn't it... like +3 enchanted weapons ect.

Remember its not a normal Balor,.. its some sort of dream-monster the duergar made by thinking badly IIRC. Much like the unseeing eye-demon in the temple of that forgotten god.
And if you think +3 is good, try hitting the the lesser demon lord you encounter eventually
