With an anger like that of a barbarian, Sephi sped across the path as fast as his legs would carry him. He was NOT going to lose this time! He had lost so much before, another failure would be too much for him! Looking into the sky, he spotted a wyvern carrying someone on its back. That must be him! With more anger than he had felt before, more than he had felt when he had killed Captain Dennis, more than he had felt when he was ambushed, more than when he had found out who was behind it! I WON'T LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN! He tuned out his anger again and tuned in his elven senses, and began to feel a wave of sadness in the distance... he ran toward it faster than he ever had gone before.

Inside, it seemed dusty and dark. All was as it had been before, just more dusty. The painting on the wall, abstract silvers and blues - that had been done by Kaz's mother, a skilled artist. The rug on the floor, deep greens and browns, was also her work. Yes, all was the same as before... except the large silver sword in the middle of the room. Its edge was covered with dried blood...
Kaz stared at it. Mother would not like that here, she always kept a tidy house. I remember how she used to make both Father and me put everything in exactly the right place... But she is dead! She is dead, she is not coming back, why am I even here? I might as well be dead as well! Kaz was gripped by a bleak rage. She grasped the sword and, cutting her hand, hurled it across the room. It hit the wall, leaving a crack. I am no longer the one I once was... why try to act as Kazara? She no longer exists... In fury, Kaz grasped a knife lying on the table. It had a simple yet elegant blue-inlaid handle. Ruthlessly gripping her long night-black tresses in one hand, Kaz chopped her hair off just above the shoulder. She let it drop onto the floor and shook her head. It feels so much lighter...
Feeling her last tie to her parents severed, Kaz sat down leadenly. Something clinked in the pocket of the cloak. She put her hand inside and drew out a bottle. It was filled with a smokey-purple liquid. She could almost hear a dead man's voice... And this is a liquid taken from the nightshade, a poisonous plant. It is colourless, tasteless, and will kill a healthy human man within minutes. I would strongly advise you do not drink it. And I laughed. Yes, I laughed. But I am not laughing now. How could I forsee it would come to this? Forgive me, Master... Kaz held the bottle in her hands, turning it over and over. Her gaze was riveted on it. Her eyes were completely colourless now, tears gathering in the corners...

Neb could feel that he was getting closer, he brought the wyvern closer to the ground, he was passing over a forest now, he could see a house.... Zephyra arrived at the house, she was inside! Neb guided the wyvern almost directly downwards towards the house, as he did so, he could see a figure trampling it's way through the forest, he did not wish to hurt the mercenary, but the feeling was probably not mutual, his second last 4th level spell for the day was expended on creating another bunch of tentacles to keep the mercenary busy, Neb unsummoned the wyvern when he was just a few feet above the ground, he ran towards the door, saw Kaz with the vial in her hand, combined with that look on her face made him realize what she had in mind, "Noooooo! Kaz! Don't!" he screamed as he rushed through the door towards her.

Kaz jerked around, dropping the bottle on the floor. It shattered, the liquid leaking onto the stone. Kaz said nothing, but her eyes clearly showed the agony she was undergoing.

Delphine

Quietly, she draws open the doors of the armoury and treads carefully into it. She stifles a gasp as she sees the huddled figure in the corner, sobbing woefully. From the back, she perceives the clusters of white and black hair mingled closely and resting against his heaving shoulders.

Creeping up to him silently, she places her delicate hand on his left shoulder gently and jerks back as he whips around with haunted eyes, staring at her entreatingly ~ "I am good, am I not?" ~ He hisses, grasping her hand firmly ~ "I am Fabian, am I not? Fabian is good..." ~ The smile on his grotesque face terrifies her and he scowls ~ "You don't like me?" ~ He draws out a dagger and points it at her breast ~ "Fabian means no harm... and yet you hate Fabian..." ~ He begins to whimper, ignoring her presence.

Watching him, her eyes blink rapidly and she swallows a gulp ~ "Of course not, Fabian... I know you are good... I am your wife, don't you remember?" ~ Her voice trembles ~ "A wife would never doubt her husband so..." ~ She bites her lips furiously before continuing ~ "Be at peace, Fabian... let me take care of you from now on..." ~

He returns her gaze with a child-like expresion of joy ~ "Really?... You'll take care of me?... Peace..." ~ He closes his eyes and buries his head against her chest contentedly. ~

"But first, we must leave this place. It is horrid with bad memories..." ~ She slowly lifts him up and holds his hand, leading him out of the armoury ~ "I know of a wonderful place we shall go to..." ~

With a sudden dread filling him, Sephi surged forward, going even faster now. He saw a cottage in the forest, and it seemed to be getting larger. He saw the wyvern land just ahead of him and dissipate, dropping its rider onto the ground. Sephi was very angry at that man, and continued charging forward, hoping to reach that man before anything else. Then he saw inside the building. He recognized the young elf as Kas, and saw that she was holding... a bottle of nightshade! He knew how potent that was, and out of all desperation, with a scream of denial, threw himself forward again. DON'T DO IT! IT'S NOT WORTH IT! She dropped the bottle, but that did little to satisfy Sephi... he could only imagine what else was in there.

Kaz stared at the newcomer. Everything was spinning... Do I know him? Did I ever know him? I think I do... I met him... once... no...

Neb turned as he heard the mercenary's shout behind him, Damnit! he thought, he's gotten here faster than I expected, Neb's thoughts were interrupted when Sephi, rushed in through the doorway that he was occupying with such force that he was flung across the room and into a wall, having the breath knocked from his lungs.

You should have gotten out of the way when you heard my call and saw me coming! Sephi turned to Neb. Best be glad that I don't kill for pleasure, boy. And there are more pressing matters here anyways. He turned his attention to Kaz. Are you okay? Have you done anything yet? Finally remembering to show a warrior's curteosy, he picks Neb up and leans him up against the wall.

"Why did you stop me?" Kaz says. Her voice is hollow and rasps in her throat. "Why?" She looks at both sorcerer and mercenary accusingly.
