For Salphur:
As Arandor's horse fell and Arandor fell with it Arandor started shouting. "So that is all the gratitude I get for serving you for several decades? I shall not be disposed of so easily!" Arandor jumped from the horse and started chanting immediately. When he touched the ground his spell was finished and the agonizing horse suddenly was blown to pieces, covering both Salphur and Arandor with bits of horse. Saphur's horse went wild and in one fluid motion threw Salphur off its back sending him flying in the air. Arandor could already be heard chanting his next spell. Salphur had to disrupt the spell at all costs, as he hit the ground he desperatly reached for a nearby rock, once he had it, he sat up and as he prepared to throw the rock, he felt an amazing burst of energy, he felt more powerfull than he could imagine.
He knew that the rock would be easily stopped, but it was a last ditch effort to stop Arandor from completing the spell, and for him to start one. Salphur hurled the rock towards Arandor with amazing speed and strength. The second the rock left his hand, he bagan his own chant. |

For Salphur:
Due to the rock Arandor had to stop his chanting and then the voice spoke in Salphur's head again. "Let me help!" Arandor suddenly took hold of his head with both of his hands and fell on his knees in immense pain. |

Salphur finished his chanting, just at that momment, Arandor's skin started to heat up, after a momment, it cought on fire in some areas.
Salphur took this chance to look for anything that would allow him to finish Arandor off, he then noticed the sword that was dropped from the horse. He precceded to grab the sword and ready himself for the final blow. He raced towards Arandor and threw himself towards Arandors chest... |

For Salphur:
The sword pierced Arandor's burning chest and the once human mage fell on his back, with his eyes wide open. The flames started reaching higher and higher and in a few seconds the body was totally disintegrated. The voice spoke to Salphur again. "Well done! A kill worthy of my new servant. Clean yourself up and await the troops arriving, then lead them against the human town." |

OOC: It's DM time!! Some of this shall only fully make sense to those who have read Silmarillion.
For Turin: Doubts were assailing the man. Should he help his companions or the young lord? His mind overwhelmed with doubts not knowing Turin excused himself of his companions and walked off a few steps. Then he walked further. His companions looked after him, but knew that Turin needed some time alone to ponder about the current situation. Still deep in thought Turin walked four or five kilometers away from the camp. Snow started falling slowly. Then suddenly he snapped out of his trance. A figure stood before him. "You may have never heard of me, but I am called Elros, son of Eärendil and Elwing. I was sent by my captor Maedhros to see what was with the rumors of orcs in this valley. I have seen much in your thoughts and I have found the answers I seek, yet I see that you Turin are troubled, as your namesake once was. He had the choice of following his love or looking for his mother and sister. Yet due to the influence of the dragon Glaurung he chose the wrong path. Let me help you!" The elf put a hand on Turin's brow and then withdrew it after a few minutes. "You face a great dilemma. Both ways could lead you to saving your friends. I have seen much of your thoughts and know this: the one called Therlion is also poisoned by the same poison which eats away at the human lord. The choice you face is a hard one, and I can not make it in your stead. Yet I can give you some advice. Much time has passed since the orcs took your two friends. The snowfall has since caused the trail to be unreadable. Finding where they took your friends would surely be fatal for the human and might prove so to Therlion. And let me also tell you a few things about this Ardana: by withdrawing her curse against the family of the human the human shall be healed, yet Ardana is no healer and shall not be able to do anything against the poison in the elf's body." "I see things you do not. A great host marches upon the town even as a smaller one besieges it. The town needs its lord. And you are the one capable of saving him. Remember sacrifices need to be made to achieve a greater goal. I am unable of choosing the way for you, but I hope I was able to help. Now I have to leave you and return to Maedhros's halls and tell him of the orcs here. It might happen that Maedhros marches against the orcs and he finds your friends." The elf then turned and ran off lightly leaving barely visible prints in the snow. OOC: pm Larry |

For Salphur:
The host arrived a few hours later and promptly acknowledged Salphur as their leader seeing that he had defeated Arandor. The army made camp and the lieutenants came to Salphur's tent to talk tactics with him. OOC: for information the town is two day's journey away, yet with the size of the army you have the time for the whole army to get there is five days. |

For the characters in the town:
Orcish horns suddenly sounded outside the city and arrows started flying over the wooden walls. Several guards around the small group at the gate were hit by arrows and fell. The voice of the guard captain rang clearly over the shouts of alarm. "Man the walls! Do not let them in the city!" During several minutes arrows continued flowing inside the city and at the guards on the ramparts. Then the orcs sent several flaming arrows at the city. Buildings took fire and with the wind suddenly gaining in force the fire started spreading fast. "Harmeth! You and Robyn need to take the women, children and old along with the wounded out of the city by the underground route. We shall try holding the city against these cursed orcs." As Harmeth and Robyn descended the ladder from the wall an arrow hit Robyn in the shoulder and she fell the last few steps. "I think I have broken a leg!" - she said among gasps of pain. "You two! Go and help her! Harmeth! I shall send three dozen guards with you for protection. Await us at dawn two days from now by the northern forest in the small fort by the hill. If we aren't there by then we shall have been overrun by the orcs. Go!" The two guards helped the wounded Robyn, while others ran around the city collecting the women, children and old. From the ramparts the remaining soldiers could see the bulk of the orcish host gathering around the main gate and three battering rams could be seen. The human archers had done little damage to the orcs as the supplies of arrows were in one of the first buildings to catch fire and they quickly ran out of arrows. Smoke filled the air and was blowing it towards the gate from above the whole city. "Everyone to the gates! Let's give these bastards hell!" As the bulk of guards ran to the gates the steady pounding of the orcish battering rams started. Then as the gates fell disaster struck. The leader of the orcs had broken through the stockade at the back of the town and had been lying in wait with three dozen of his comrades just beyond the gates. As soon as the gate was breached Glurg and his orcs charged at the defenders from behind. Taken by surprise and stuck between the two bodies of orcs the defenders did not have much chance. Only with great losses were barely two dozen of them able to escape. (OOC: that includes all player characters, the guard captain and some men) They made their way towards the underground exit with the orcs hot on their trail. As they all passed through the trap door the guard captain along with Roland fended off the orcs in the doorway of the building. When only the two of them remained the captain looked at Roland. "We can not hold them back! Go! Take the trapdoor! Do not think of me! Once you get in pulling the lever fifty meters along in the passageway shall collapse the route behind you." - the captain decapitated an orc who made a mistake and then looked again at Roland, who seemed to be hesitating. "One of us has to remain behind to allow the safe passage of the others! GOOOO!" - and with a mighty heave pushed him into the trapdoor. Roland fell, but managed to catch the ladder. Above him the trapdoor closed and was bolted shut. For a few more minutes the sounds of the battle could be heard above, but then all went quiet. Presently axe-blows could be heard on the trapdoor. For Janni Irmlarrkell:
The elven woman looked at the elf she had heard was a hireable assassin. "I have a job for you. Would you be interested?" |

Turin
The man stood in the snow, no longer feeling the cold nor aware of whether or not he was even breathing. A miracle had just occurred and he had been blessed by it. He finally persauded himself to turn around and face camp once again, realizing that he needed to get back to work. He ran up to the others... "My choice has been made. We must return the young Lord to his throne at all cost. Tell me, what do any of you know of this Ardana? I was given this name in a vision...and our success rides on this name...but she is no healer, so a riddle must be solved. Speak quickly, we haven't much time!" |
