ELF "The message indeed is from Drajlough. I came across him in my travels, and his case seemed piteous to me, so I agreed to carry the message. Rumor had it at your father's castle that you had escaped the dragon, and were at liberty once more, so I have been searching in this area for you. I heard the squirrels speaking of a lovely lady in this wood, so I ventured to look. I see that the little ones did not exaggerate, as you are fair in the way of my kindred. At any rate, I shall hold you blameless if you do not respond, as I only agreed to carry the message. It is this: Drajlough lies chained at the door of a cave, charged to dissuade any from entering there, on the grounds that it would be his death. Little enough, you would think, yet the place is not frequented, and there are rumors of a powerful druidess or sorceress dwelling therein. From his hints, I guess that he offended this woman, somehow, and this is his punishment. So, now you are informed. Go your way. Elen sila lumenn omentielvo,." (He bows over her hand, kisses it despite the sword it bears, and slips away into the shadows.)

Verloren
Verloren frowned after him and stood contemplating for a moment, then she exploded, "Gotten himself chained to a door has he?! I wonder how he offended her!" she slashed the grass with Isak then started pacing. Finally, she sat back on the grass. ~I know what will happen if I save him, but what will happen to him if I do not? Hmm...maybe it would be best to talk to this woman and find out what he did...yes, then I can decide whether his hide is worthy of my rescuing. I will notify the party when they arrive~ She sighed, then it hit her that she didn't know where the cave was. How was she to find it? Perhaps the elf would return later, or one of her group knew of a powerful druid or elf in the area, that lived in a cave. Not wishing to sleep anymore, she crossed her legs and laid her swords across her lap, eyes scanning the foilage. [ 08-07-2002, 07:24 PM: Message edited by: Lady Blue03 ] |

*The mysterious elf watches Verloren as she sleeps. Slowly and carefully, he steals up on her and leaves a note by her right hand. It says only: "The Cave of the Winds in the Mountains of Rhun. Seek it before others do." Then he slowly withdraws.

OOC>>> I am so sorry for not posting all this while, folks. Work life has been busy to the point that I've had to work from 7.15 am to 10.35 pm on some days and ignore my back problems ... it wouldn't be as hellish if I didn't have such an unappreciative boss
I am currently researching on what graduate course to take up, cos I think it's time to re-examine where my career is taking me. I promise to post here more regularly ![]() |

OOC: With a slight relative infestation now out of the way, I can finally get back to posting. And the forum's up too! Yay
![]() IC: Legolas He can tell Sorsha does not much like this Castor, and he too would rather it were just the two of them traveling. Still, it might be useful to learn what they could of the supposed troubles. "What trouble and forest are you speaking of, Ser?" "I'd gladly tell, but if'n you asks me I'd say it ain't not entirely fair that I should be givin all the information here, mate." "You are the one who claimed to have knowledge to share, not us. But if there's anything you'd like to know ask away, and I will tell you what I can." "What you will." "What I will. Ask." The self-proclaimed paladin starts to grin, then. "What's the name of the beautiful gal by your side?" "Won't you rather gather your courage and ask her instead of me?" "G'point. The trouble's a couple bands of beasty dudes, lots of kinds. I could handle them, 'specially if you gave me a hand. Are you goin to take me withya or not?" "You didn't answer the rest of the question." "That was two questions, mate. Are you?" "I can't tell unless I know where we are or aren't going." "Okay, but you owe me another after, alright? It's the area 'round Witchy Wood." It was where they were going. Was there any way for this man to know? If so, it'd probably be best not to take him and his squire along. Mind and heart agreeing, the answer is a no. "Fair enough. But I'm dyin for some blokes to travel with. You happen to know other adventurers like meself?" "There is a group of them, in fact. Last I saw them, they were headed for an orc encampment. With your horse, it'll be about a one day ride over average roads to reach the point where we split. I don't know how far to the camp or if they'll still be there." "Thanks mate. The beasties are pretty weak near the edge of the forest, but they get bigger, stronger and faster near the centre. There's talk of a wizard organising them all too. Those are fer free, by the way. You'd have picked them up later anyways." Castor and Vino remounted and raised a hand in farewell. "Bye, ranger Legolas. 'Till our next meeting", Castor said right before he charged off. A gust of wind carried Vino's words "wish I had a green messenger bird" and then they disappeared behind a stand of firs. Legolas's puzzlement vanishes after a few moments, and then he just feels stupid for not using his head. When it changes to a mild anger, he bottles it up and puts it away. Then he turns to Sorsha for her opinion on the two. |

Sorsha
She gives way to a heartfelt sigh of relief as the two men gallop away into the horizon. There was something about them...surely... "If you ask me, Legolas, I doubt even their claims of being paladins." ~ Her voice is tinged with indignation ~ "After all, they are no way near Lady Galadria and Sir Blandamour in terms of the way they carry themselves. Their manners of speech border on the uncouth..." ~ She hesitates, feeling his gaze burning upon her cheeks ~ "... I just find it so hard to believe they are truly people of honour and the shining light." Having said thus far, she wonders whether to continue. Glancing around to ensure they are quite alone, she lowers her voice and goes on ~ "I must say, however, that we've had too much violence of late. In fact, wherever I've been - safe for that lovely temple which took me in out of kindness and where my dear Puka now stays, and that lovely magical forest - the grounds have been stained with blood and gore." ~ Her troubled eyes rest upon the handsome elf's face. "Am I too soft or overly sensitive?" ~ Impulsively, she steps up and holds his wrist with trembling hands ~ "I hope that the end - whatever that is - is near." |

Isaura
The smile spreads across her lips uncontrollably at Galadria's show of support ~ "Let us away, then!" ~ With little left to do but bid farewells to their companions, the two ladies set off, ready to reclaim the former illusionist's birthright... |

Legolas
"Sorsha," he says smiling, "you're exactly soft and sensitive enough for me. I'd have it no other way." He pauses a moment to gather his thoughts, then speaks again. "They were strange and unpaladinlike, but if what they said is true then we may not like where we're going, and Durlan may be in trouble." The elf turns his head back to the road, not wanting to break Sorsha's touch but also seeking surety. He relaxes as he spots the bird, clears his mind to recieve it's message. It was his own, to ranger Gnubber. He turns back to Sorsha. "The bird, Vino so kindly reminded me, is a messenger bird we rangers employ. Because of unknown dangers, rangers traveling a lot and the occasionally very important work we have to do, a normal dove or raven with a note doesn't suffice. Instead, we imprint messages upon their minds by thought, and they trace all rangers through lines of magic they alone can feel. We also use a colour code, so if any are killed in flight and discovered, we know at least who had a message to send. My birds are green like the one who's been following me since the Steeplewood, which is probably why I didn't expect this one to hold a message even if it wasn't just an ordinary, unenchanted bird. For some reason, it could not deliver it's message and returned to me instead. I sent this one to Durlan some time ago." He should've noticed before, shoudn't he? Was he paying attention to Sorsha at the cost of monitoring his environment? And if so, could he get away with it? As he had no intention of changing things around, he'd just have to find out the answer to that one. "There's another thing about those two though. While I spoke to that Castor, do you recall me ever once mention my name?" [ 08-21-2002, 12:33 PM: Message edited by: Legolas ] |

OOC>>> I'm just PMed you, Legolas
IC>>> Sorsha "Well, not that I can think of..." ~ She begins in the affirmative, suddenly shaking as the enormity of the situation hits her ~ "But how... " ~ That wave of nausea is so compelling, she emits an involuntary gasp, steadying herself by way of gripping his wrist more tightly than usual ~ "... how did they know your name?" Calm yourself down; think not of the worse. ~ Yet how can she, when it all seems to tie in? Their uncouthness, the way in which they cast knowing, secretive - not to mention oily - smiles at each other. So they had known Legolas by reputation, if not by name. And now that they had gone... is it for the better or worse? For to allow them to tag along would mean THE ENEMY would have an unfair advantage, knowing their every current move. But now, THE ENEMY could gather reinforcements, could it not? What a wretched business all this is turning out to be! She silently rebukes herself for not being of more help, always the passive observer that inclination drives her to be. Vowing wordlessly ~ I WILL improve myself, for his sake as well as for mine. Then abruptly, she addresses the ranger, the light in her blue eyes flickering ~ "What do you make of the situation, my love? And please - do not spare me anything. I want to hear your honest opinion." |

OOC>> Ha, ha, I''m baaack! IC>
LADY GALADRIA"Yes, Isaura, let us away." (Glances at Blandamour) I can think of nothing to keep me here." (She mounts Gold Top, doffs her helmet and swings her sweaty blonde hair in the cool breeze. She gazes round the windswept majesty of Breakbone Pass. Sparse piny woods give out at the higher elevations, and bare crags appear. Hawks and vultures soar on the breezy thermal, waiting to feast on the fallen orcs, for such is the fellowship of their kind. For some reason, she feels her heart inexpressively lighten. On the road again, her duty clear. She digs her spurs in and an eager Gold Top trots away responsively.) |
