As you pull the amulet from his neck, the entire scene changes. You are in an opulent house with lovely furniture. The gnome's rags are revealed to really be silken robes. The amulet in your hand throbs with power. If you have an Identity spell or scroll, you could identify it.

*bowing low* I knew there was more to you than first appeared good gnome, I would apologize at my *glaring at some of his companions* "friends" ill manners, do you have any information that may aid us in our quest?

*Drawing his blade he looks at his companoins* I suggest you put the illusionist down, what you see cannot hurt you if you don't believe in it, I've heard of a clan of dwarves completely immune to magic, because none of them believe it exists. *stepping aside to the side to observe if his companions will identify the item, while still being at the forefront should the gnome address his inquiry*

The gnome says:"ofcourse, i have some very valuable information about your quest but you cant have it! njaa njaa!" *runs around the room in a circle, starts singing* "i have the info! i have the info! you cant have it! you cant have it!"
Khazzy guy:"seems like someone or something made him a bit c-c-crazy!" casts dispel magic. it has no effect "ooh.. its immune to dispel. whoever did it must have amazing powers. my next idea is to kill and loot this place. we might find something useful.. or valuable"

The amulet is an amulet of illusion. It allows the beared, if a wizard, to change the appearance of his surroundings for a 50 meter radius.

He puts the amulet in a pocket underneath his cloak.

Takes four quick strides, catches the gnome again and pull him level with his face.

"And now you're going to answer our questions - or you're going to eat whatever teeth you have left ..... for a start."

ARUELLA We seek the whereabouts of a small. though perhaps not to you, human named Slatkin. Can you tell us of his whereabouts? Or, it may be the worse for you. My companions are growing restless."

Khaz`Djir makes a suprise magical attack, killing the gnome.
"he would have lied anyway. im sure much more trustworthy people can be found as we proceed in our quest"
