Congratulations!!! (post #100)

Verily, the adventures of Faldorn and those of Thomas the Priest of Helm gave me the courage to start my first solo attempt. Core rules, of course. I'm not stupid.

I'd be interested to know what Faldorn's final stats/inventory were, and what you felt were the most valuable druid skills/spells during the adventure.

Faldorn.
Str 11
Dex 17
Con 16
Int 11
Wis 19
Cha 16
Special thanks to The Machine of Lum the Mad. I will forever curse the ritual and Hell.

Helm of Brilliance and Vhailor's Helm: Both worn more or less equally during the final battle
Aeger's Hide
Gauntlets of Ogre Power
Ring of Free Action (Switched off with the Ring of Fire Resistance later in the battle)
Ring of Gaxx
Amulet of Power (It's the one piece of equipment that hasn't been removed since I got it)
Belt of Inertial Barrier
Boots of Speed
Staff of the Ram +4
Spectral Brand +4
Cloak of Displacement

As abilities go, I can easily divide the game for you: Sword Spider and Energy Blades. Near the beginning of the game I was constantly in sword spider form... Five attacks and poison? Awesome. The only time I wasn't in spider form was right before I cast Iron Skins. Which brings me to Iron Skins: Always cast right before I rest. Chaotic Commands was always cast upon waking. And, of course, speaking of spells, this is where I discuss Energy Blades.
Energy Blades made the game a thousand times easier. I couldn't have done it without them. This is also why Vhailor's Helm was so handy... Double the energy blades!
I really like the Helm of Brilliance, partly because I'm irked that druids aren't allowed to cast Sunray. That's a pretty natural spell if you ask me, and they can cast it in 3rd edition. It made the final battle with Bodhi much easier.
Chromatic Orb helped handle pesky little enemies not worth Energy Blades... Cast Doom first, and then Chromatic Orb... I tell ya, it's the poor man's Greater Malison and Finger of Death.

Neomi,

I too was inspired to try my first solo with a druid from reading Illumina's posts. Her inventory was listed a few posts ago. As far as spells go, Summon Fire Elemental is a huge help early on since alot of your opponents don't have magical weapons so they can't harm the elemental. Insect plague is also great as is disrupts spell casting. If you have TOB installed the HLA ability Energy Blades is absolutly wonderful as is Summon Deva.

You know, it's been so long since I summoned a fire elemental that I had forgotten to mention them. They are quite valuable earlier on, for the reason Fangrel cited. They're great to soak up damage, especially when much of the damage never comes. ::looks directly at Neomi and speaks in a goofy French accent:: I blow my nose at these silly unenchanted weapons!

And it's so nice to see that I've inspired people to solo. It's a good experience and it makes you intimately familiar with the game.

it's been a great adventure Illumina! I'll never be a soloist, but enjoy reading the adventures start a new thread in ToB forum, and let this one stay here; I think there'll be more new SoA gamers (or simply new IWers) coming and they can enjoy this thread as well.

::nods:: A good call, I think. There are people who might not have ToB, but why shouldn't they read this segment of the story?
As for never being a soloist, why not? You never know until you try. Nobody even said it had to be on Insane difficulty with an insanely difficult class.... You could be a sorc or a cleric/mage.
Just thought I'd reiterate. Never say never! ::cheesey thumbs-up::

LOL! You stole my thunder! DIE!

::Casts comet on krunchyfrogg:: That's better.

::Clears throat:: ... Ahem. Now, I'm going to run away before the hordes of thread necromancer police come scouring the area with pitchforks and wooden planks with nails in them.

Good day to you all.

I would allow a druid to wear a dragon-plate mail in my campaign... after all, it's natural.. but I don't know about the 'legality' in this game. So I'm asking my my ethics experts out there their opinions.
Yes it's legal, #1 dragon armor is not metallic, #2nor is it manufactured (like chain armor, leather, or most other armors that aren't specially fitted to the user), #3 dragon armor is considered hide armor with an ac dependent on the source's armor class (I know the game calls it plate), so no I do not consider this a bug.

I did bump this in reference to that other post, but do in fact plan on reading the entire thread soon!
