Another aspect of this kind of situation, I read stories about people finding a banking error in their favor to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars. They spent it, the bank spotted the error and wanted their money back. The person who thought they had a spot of luck ended up charged with fraud and grand theft.

No, there really never was a choice,
I had a team meeting in the office today. I went right to 6pm, so I left immediately, since I knew I had guesses waiting at home. I will send an email to the managers on Monday.
I don't know if it was an HR screw-up. I think they just advised on what to do.

Thanks for being like-minded.

I also want to add that it's better that I did get this month, because the trip is in a few weeks and I'll need the spending cash.
I would not even be surprised if the dpt manager thought of that and let the commission go through. She does have a soft side and taking it away next month would be less painful.

The other thing is that with a company this size, it's also a case of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing.
I'd bet half my commission that I could not say anything and they would never know. It's a very trivial matter when you look at how big Staples is.

It reminds of Acts (16), when Paul and Silas were in prison. An earthquake hit, which caused the prison doors to open. The 2 did not leave however, knowing that the guard would be punished.

So, for now, a round for all at Cloudy's, on me!

I'm sure you're all "dying" for an update..

Well, my manger responded to me that day (Monday) and asked if maybe the commission was taken off the previous month. Duh, as if wouldn't notice that.
The department manager did not respond to me at all; yet.

IMHO, you've raised the issue and it's been heard. I'd ask no more questions... they'll either deal with it or not.

I'd put the extra aside for a bit... savings, money market fund, or something. Don't splurge on that heated hot tub just yet...

My dpt manager just followed up with me. She said they would deduct it from my commission next month instead.

She also told me that I was one of the top 3 reps overall last year. So I will get $1500, along with the Cancun trip!!
Balance in all things I guess..

LOL! Gotta wonder... what's more important to them, results or rules?

At least you've got a clear conscience. That's worth far more than any commission check ever could be.

Yeah, really though,
She also told me I'm top for sales this period (March to April 4th) as well.

Be all the more a shame when you leave for a competitor, won't it?
