Got a very disturbing phonecall yesterday. My cousin told me that a guy who used to be a close friend of mine, was found hanging from the ceiling in his house. He killed himself, and left a wife and a daughter.
I didn't see him for at least 7 years, but before that i saw him every day. We went on hollidays together, went to footballmatches, nightclubs, you name it.... the guy was always there. When he started using drugs like heroin he changed, he lied a lot, beat up his girlfriend, got arrested all the time.... stuff like that. That's why we lost contact, i didn't wanna go in that direction. talking didn't help, he simply changed, seemed somehow posessed. But now i'll never have a chance to talk to him again, he's gone. My head hurts from all the thinking i've done, and i feel empty. WHY ???....... Sorry for all this folks, i don't want to bother anyone with personal issues, but i'm alone right now, and needed to get this off my chest.

Dude, that sucks
We had a mate sorta like that. He had himself a good business, punchbag (his girlfriend), and drug habit. Lost the business and the girlfriend. Then vanished.

Hey, that's what we are here for, Johnny. Sorry about your friend, and I know that a suicide among your acquaintance, let alone your family or spouse, is a shattering thing. Drugs like heroin worsen depression, and a higher suicide rate goes along with that. Loke at Kurt Cobain.

Was that one of his songs? I've never heard one, that I know of. From what I've read, he was one of those sensitive types who couldn't bear the world, so he left it. Just back from an hour's walk in the late afternoon sunshine down by the creek. I saw more robins and mourning doves than anything, and crows. I hoped to see the Great Blue Heron that lives down there, but, I guess that he had other fish to fry.

Congratulations, Horatio. Have a great time. See ya later. A sponsorship must be a great thing, like getting into medical school.

The big problem with DSL, is that you need to be within a certain distance to the switch (the building where the telephone lines all feed into) to get good speed, and even under ideal conditions cable generally beats the pants off it. Another drawback to DSL is that a lot of the providers use PPPoE to connect (a kind of dialup) which means you pretty much are stuck with winblows as an OS. (This isn't a problem for most people, but some techie types like to use alternative oses like me) With cable you are "always online", and networking multiple computers onto your cable modem is dead easy. (it's a network device, and looks like another network card to the router)
