The priestess sighed deeply again and gave the frightened girl a long look "Stop quivering child, I won't beat you unless you disobey me. In which case, I'll make your sorry hide wish that you'd been drowned at birth." the drow warrior bowed deeply to the priestess, and went back to his place in the party. The priestess looked at Alae, "Have you further instruction for me? Regarding the child, or otherwise?" from the way the girl trembled, she was terrified in the priestess's arms. The priestess's grip was firm, but not painful. Her attitude was clear she wouldn't accept anything less then total submission and obedience.

"Very well." she sighed "If she steps out of line, I'll punish her as you surfacers do. If that is acceptable, my lady?" She asked, her tone somewhat acidic. The girl just looked up at the priestess, her eyes wide and afraid and whispered, "I'll behave..." the priestess swatted the girl's rear, though not overly hard and replied, "You'd better." then stepped through the portal after Alae replied.

"I doubt she'll misbehave, but if she does, do what is necessary." She nodded to the priestess, then gathered the warriors, "Let's go. you know what to do. May Shar grant us strength." She released the now steady Alaerth and started slowly up the stairs.

"I'll guard her personally." Came the priestess's parting words. Alae and her company acended the stairs, only to find the demon gone. Instead, there was a pentagram in the floor, and two elves lay prostrate on the floor, both with rituals carved on their nude forms. They were quite clearly dead. In the centre of the pentagram stood a man. 6'3, he was tall and dressed in a noble's clothing. A broadsword was strapped to his side. He smirked when he saw them, and waved his hand. A gust of wind sweapt all the drow warriors back, knocking them down the stairs. Then at a guesture of his hand, he collasped the staircase. "Well, well, well." he said mockingly, "Look who it is. If it isn't the little wyrmlings. Care to face me? Maybe one on one... which one of you is it? Tell me now, so I don't have to kill one of you at random... perhaps... you." he looked at Alae, and then looked at Alaerth. "Or you?"

A deep draconic growl rumbled out of Alaerth's chest and he started forward, his flesh becoming covered in silver scales. Alae snatched his hand, "Don't use dragon form unless you absolutley have to."
He frowned, and with difficulty his fleshed returned to normal. He glared at the demon,
"Come out of that pentagram, demon, and then I'll fight you." His voice was edged with rage, but he kept it at bay, not wanting to lose his wits.

"Ah, but of course." the demonic-human figure said, his tone civil, and stepped down. He held out his hand, and the pentagram and the two dead elves burnt up, red flames sprouting from their corpses. Then he looked at Alae, and mouthed something. "Do not fear, your wyrm. Your sister just cannot interefer. She is bound. She can speak, she can watch, but she cannot move to aid you. Prepare yourself." he drew his broadsword, and addopted a classical defensive stance.

Gus emerged from a green cloud of death smoke, waving his hand it turned into a solid wall of something similar to ice crystals only green and with no eminating temperature. He looked about at the courpses on the ground and smiled, patting the heart in his front pocket. All he needed was a reason to and he'd gladly use it... here and now...

Alae bit her lip in worry, but it went unheeded by her brother as he slid into a fighting stance in front of the demon. The man was taller, and had more reach, plus a powerful sword, but Alaerth was more lithe, and had the quicker weapon. Silver eyes wary, he edged his left foot forward and took an experimental cut at his oppenent, weighing his skills and talent.
