In the more than a century that Elethias has been actively battling against the common and exotic foes of his homeland (and in his time since his exile) he has run across many things, including mass combat, one on one honor duels, and many situations in between. He has been cast adrift in a see of hostile swords before, and knows that to lower his guard and his percecptions is to invite painful and messy death. He is unfamiliar with combat underground, and the echoes from cavern walls could throw him off enough to allow a crafty opponent an edge, and a quick strike. He is also wearing a mask and a deep hood, this would also prove a hindrance (although to a lesser extent than a helm). please bear in mind however he has also trained without the use of his eyes (blindfighting prof) so he will be more alert to the more subtle clues, sounds of footsteps, swish of a blade moving through the air, breathing, things that would be harder to guage in the din of multituded of foes.

How about you new PCs get in here and help me hold off a shadow, a wright, and the entire left flank of advancing grimlocks, in the dark . . .
![]() One question can my character hear the elf chanting and can he tell she is trying to dispell the planar rift/ globe of darkness type thing or can he not tell, but has a pretty good idea? Or basically where does he stand in knowledge of events happening? Like does he know he is facing a wright by now? Is that maybe a wisdom check or something like that? I honestly haven't DMed in ages, my old crew moved away ohh so long ago ![]()

I suppose I don't have it so bad, since I only have to take care of one of those champion type Grimlocks fast enough to save Brendon from being torn limb from limb. I certainly feel for Dantes, though!

Kethotar is kinda used to all forms of battle, everything from one on one duels to large battle-scenes. He doesn't specialize in any of them, though, he is just used to all of them. This is because he has travelled around his entire life, and most of the battles he have fought have been random ones he have cross-pathed with. Even though he doesn't specialize in any, he does prefer one on one battles, though, where he can completely concentrate on only one enemy.
As for battle style, he is used to fight mostly defensive, where he firstmost blocks attacks, before he attacks the foe as soon as he sees an opening. In large battles like the current one, though, where he has multiple enemies, he has an offensive and effective battle style, even if it can be a bit reckless in times. He then attacks with both weapons, rolling away and dodging attacks instead of parrying them. That said, Kethotar generally dual wields his Long Sword and Hand Axe, giving him even more opportunities. What he usually does, though, is to defend himself and parry attacks with the Axe, and attack with the Long Sword. He ofcourse uses the axe as well to attack if that suits better for the moment. It all depends on the situation, really. He is right handed, having the sword in the right hand and axe in the left hand. When fighting, Kethotar uses all his senses, hightening them as much as he can. He has a high dexterity, meaning he is good at registering small movements around him, and swiftly roll away if that is needed. He can blind-fight, but isn't very good at it. He is absolutely best at fighting in light in quite open fields. Sneaking around is forests is also a speciality of his. EDIT] Almost forgot to mention that Kethotar also carries a long bow and a quiver at his back, which he uses at long distances. He also uses the bow on enemies not so far away, occasionally, if they are located in a tactical better position for melee fighting than he is. There we go. Hope you'll be able to get some useful information out of that. [ 08-25-2003, 04:59 AM: Message edited by: Sir Exxon ] |

A little question.
AFAIK, there are two versions of the spell Call Lightning. One of them says that you have to be outside in order for the spell to work, as you actually summon a lightning down from the skies. But there is also one that says that the lightning comes from the caster itself, so it can be casted in dungeons, caverns, etc. So I guess I'm asking if LOF can use the second version, as Call Lightning would be awesome to use against the grimlocks. I think he's referring to the spell static discharge from IceWind Dale (HoW)

there are two versions of the spell (they both do basically the same thing, but static discharge travels from the caster, instead of being called from on high)
