On the wind, voices.
"Look, we're lost. You've got us lost." "We're not 'lost', and if you'd stop yapping on I could concentrate..." On the horizon, a blurred figure, walking resolutely on. "Just own up, holy boy! You don't know where we are, do you?" "I know precisely where we are. We're HERE. As to the location of HERE in relation to anything else, ah, there I am stumped..." A young man, clad in dented and tarnished armour with a blade-shaped hole in the chest. In one hand he holds a glowing sword, that inexplcably seems to be talking. "I'm hungry." "You're a sword. Swords don't get hungry, do they?" "What do you know about it? You ever been a sword?" "You've never mentioned it in the past year." "I was being polite." Two things see to be constant; the first, the pace of the knight's walking. A mechanical left-right-left that the knight seems to keep up out of mere reflex; as if his legs have come to believe that motion is their natural state. "So, what's the plan?" "I'm going to keep walking until we meet something." "Huh. Great plan. That hasn't worked all month." "Have faith, Karnas." "I'd rather have something to DO." The second; the continual stream of words. This is an argument that could outlast time itself... if one of the participants wasn't mortal, that is. "Look, there's a tree. That makes... oh, 7 trees so far this year. I'd write that in my diary if I had arms, hands, a pen and a diary." "Now you're just being sarcastic." "And I haven't been up till now?!? Wake up and smell the ash and dust, boy-knight!" "Shut up or you're at the bottom of the next lake we come across." "Ha! According to the law of averages, we're not going to see many lakes, cavalier!" "I'm not averse to a bit of digging, either. You'd better hope for that lake." The words and the walk continue, into the distance. *** Although Tancred the Cavalier and Karnas the Mage-Sword never come into this story, it is worthwhile to note that during this part of their long search for something to do, they came within 3 miles of the current position of Attalus, Galadria, TAO and Sir Blandamour. What might have been, eh?

OOC>>> That was an interesting post, Tancred. Thanks for the contribution
IC>>> Eliza Her voice overwrought with tension, she glances up at Azure, her face taut and unsmiling. The moody clouds sweep past her serious countenance, and her lips begin to tremble with suppressed intensity. "Yes, we have met before... I suppose." ~ The tone betraying a state of daze and uncaring ~ "Lost; all is lost." ~ Desperately she tries to lift herself off the ground, succeeding partially in a weak stumble ~ "Thank you for drawing me back... I think." ~ Blinking once, she finds herself staring at the blurred image of the thief. "I... I feel odd..." ~ Swaying on her feet, she staggers on blindly, her head pounding incessantly ~ "Help..." ~ Finally overcome by fatigue and the dark thoughts plaguing her mind, she utters a cry of despair before succumbing to the draw of sleep again, the last word on her lips barely audible. "Raymond..." |

Sorsha
The eyes of the reborn cleric shine softly as she takes her maiden steps out of the temple once more ~ How long have I been here? ~ Noting the rustling in the trees ahead ~ I wonder where my friends have gone... ~ A dull ache forming in her heart ~ And what friends they've been, especially Galadria... I do hope she is well and happy. ~ The image of the pink-armoured paladin and righteous Blandamour flitting across her mind ~ May she always be with her loved one. Slightly wincing at her own predicament, she nevertheless begins her journey to find her former companions... |

He bursts into mock guffaws, nearly choking on his words ~ "That amulet again, Alain!" ~ Wiping his eyes subtly ~ "You've been obsessed by it after all these years then?" "As have you." ~ Alain's dry reply silences the exaggerated amusement ~ "Say that you haven't, and the world will have yet another liar." ~ His eyebrows arch in challenge ~ "Well? What have you to say to that?" Gritting his teeth, Dalben nods, his reluctance obvious ~ "You speak the truth. I have yet to find out its powers, and that is what fascinates me. Quite unlike you..." ~ Eyes accusingly at Alain ~ "... who have decided from the start that it is the ultimate weapon against all enemies." "Elena's mother once spoke of how it granted her a force." ~ The hiss turning ominous ~ "And we know how strong a lady that was... but stop delaying the obvious, Dalben!" ~ Irritation creasing his face ~ "Hand it over now." For a moment, both men glare at each other, the only sound in the room that of the crackling fire. Finally, a genuine chuckle escapes Dalben's lips as he looks Alain in the eye. "It's no longer with me." "What?! Do you mean to say that all this talk has been for nothing?!" ~ Fury rising from within his medium frame ~ "Where in the gods is it? Tell me now or I swear you'll regret it..." ~ His voice silenced by Dalben's contemptuous glance. "It is where it should belong. Rightfully." "So the princess lives?" ~ Alain's incredulous tone tinged with wonder ~ "Does she know how to use it? Where is she now?" |

Azure
Being the resourceful and caring type, Azure made quick preparations at a hasty campsite. She heated water and made a warm bath to bathe her newfound burdon. Then, tucking her away into a make-shift tent made from the foliage found lying around the forest floor, Azure had completed her task. She knew that the potion would sustain her at least a day and a night, that sufficient food might be found. Still, They were in the middle of a large forest, and Azure admittingly had lost herself in her blind wanderings, for she was still in grievance over Jaime. Paying attention to her surroundings had not been priority. Now, she had to think for two. And who was Raymond? |

Rrang
He was dragging the doe to his lair near the monestary entrance. When he rounded the last corner, he suddenly sensed something was wrong. The ranger dropped the creature and started to wipe it's blood from his nose. Although the smell of the blood lingered for a while, he could smell other things. Smellsnice had been outside. And she hadn't come back in as far as he could tell (which was pretty far). He hurried to his lair to retrieve the crude spear he'd wrought before he set out after his cub. The scent got a bit stronger as time went by, but Rrang knew that it'd take him a number of days to catch up at the rate she was traveling. Even though she couldn't have had a lead of more than a few hours, her horse was a strong beast, no doubt well cared for by the clergi. It was just the type to head off at a fast pace, only to slow down later on as it got more and more tired. He figured that if he kept moving throughout the night, it'd take two, maybe three days at most before he'd catch up with the girl. If there was trouble, probably less. The Faeralan wished he knew where she was heading, so he could take shortcuts through the woods. He didn't thoguh, and couldn't. If he tried, he would risk falling even further behind. |

"Yer asking a treehugger fer advice? If'n ye'd be clever 'nough t'ask the ven'rable dwarf I'd say them speakers be miles 'way. Don't need o'ersized dogs ta tell me that."
"Nay, for once Surly's right. Whoever they are..." "Fer once? Fer once? Yer "Surly"'s always right rangerboy. Now quit flabbin' yer mouth 'n ne'er use that name 'gain if'n yer wants ta live. If ye got me a copper 'never yer utt'ring that there name, I could buy every stinkin' mount'n that's ever seen a Dwarf!" "'n if I got a copper from ye for each time ye've threatened someone's life I could buy them mountains from yer own self at twice the price. And be none the poorer fer it." Surly took out the large axe and tested the sharpness of the blade on a thumb. Satisfied, the dwarf looked up at Durlan. "That be an insult to me honour woody. How's 'bout we end this 'ere 'n now?" "I'll be lettin' you 'ave the first blow." "Ach! Yer not even a chall'nge ta me. I'll be lettin' ya live. Maybe one day ye'll be worthy of a bit o' me attention 'n a death by me 'ands." [SIR BLANDAMOUR(to Surly) "This "treehugger" is my valued companion, dwarf, and I'll thank you to remember it another time." (to TAO and Galadria) "The voices seem to have died away. Let us continue back to Tarashia, where we may meet our companions again."

She dismisses the dwarf with a snarl, and looks the ranger straight in the eye, her eyes glowing a soft amber at him...~I know you from somewhere, but where?~ She jumps off her horse, and leading it, turns to the others, "I will catch up to you in a minute........."
She disappears back into the trees...... She reappears a few moments later, her horse crashing thru the brush, and throws a young lad with a sword off of her saddle on top of the dwarf........"So much for that......." She glances at the others, and heads to the front, hiding a smile, and gallops off to scout ahead........ [ 03-11-2002: Message edited by: TAOWolf ] |
