This was the door, there was no question about it. Sunnis, Prince of Earth, stood there, gaping, like one of those slack-jawed imbeciles from the Umar Hills. It made her so angry. She pointed at the door and shrieked commands like a demon from the Abyss, and alternately pounding at the door to give it the idea... until she noticed that she *was* a demon from the Abyss, and the door was broken. She hadn't lost control like that since the Asylum. Quickly she changed back before anyone noticed. At least she had gotten the door open. By then the Elemental Prince had returned to its own plane, no doubt shaking its head in confusion. Armed with several relics, she quickly dispatched the minotaurs and headed downstairs. She summoned a deva and put on the Helm of Brilliance before sliding open the sarcophagus. She reassembled the thing and just as she had anticipated, it was an ancient lich that immediately attacked her. Faerun was such a predictable place, sometimes. She seared it with the Sunray, and it changed shape. This was new. It imprisoned the deva she had summoned, and it didn't take her long to realize that she had better run. Dashing upstairs and closing the door, Faldorn took a few moments to take stock of what she should do. Fortunately it didn't follow her... After all, she mused, how would a floating skull open a door? She put on Vhailor's Helm and the Ring of the Ram, and used a scroll of protection from magic on herself. She ran downstairs, quickly summoned her simulacrum, and instructed it to use its own scroll. The demilich chattered its teeth like a children's toy you could buy from a temple of Gond, but its magic could not harm her or her mirrored self. They used their respective rings to knock it back a good distance, but it didn't finish off the beast. Faldorn quaffed a Potion of Haste and started beating at the thing with her Staff of the Ram, and her simulacrum did the same. It fell faster than... well, a skull would without any arms or legs or torso. She sifted through its remains and found a ring. She had no idea where a floating skull could keep a ring and didn't want to think about it... but realized it was a powerful artifact. Imbued with the power of her foe, she sauntered off in the general direction of the Underdark. Not to help the elves, oh no. There were still caves she had not explored. ********** WOO-HOO! I kicked his bony ASS! Assuming demiliches have asses... He was just a floating skull, so I don't know. But it was a glorious battle. Oh, who am I kidding. It was a slaughter. It was also easier to defeat him with just me. I found that there were less people to worry about, and Protection from Magic scrolls are so rare that only having to worry about me and mirror-me made the prebattle prepping much simpler.

I suppose that's why the tactics/insane combination is so popular among the hard-core soloists...

You're lucky. Whenever I fight the Demi-Lich Kangaxx, he casts about three Sunfires and dies! I get no EXP as a result

Ah, but you forget about the Demilich Howl. You need to make EVERYONE get out of the way. And I'd rather only have to worry about one person, protected by a shimmering sphere of immunity, rather than focusing on herding four or five people into a corner, ensuring they're all out of range, turning AI off so they don't attack...
And what's this about Sunfires? Was that when he was still in lich form? I've never seen the floating skull cast Sunfire... And even if he did, it wouldn't damage him. Sunfires don't touch the caster.

I think it's part of his beefing up he got in the Solaufein MOD.
I'll fight him, in his skull form, he casts Sunfire three imes after Imprisonment doesn't work, and he dies. No EXP. Maybe his own how kills him...

It was over in less than forty-eight hours after Faldorn handed Elhan the Lanthorn. Irenicus and his minions were strong. Faldorn was stronger. Irenicus summoned powerful creatures to aid him. Faldorn's were more powerful. Irenicus had drive. Faldorn simply had more. Her trip through the elven city was uneventful. After all, there wasn't a single type of creature there that she hadn't seen before. Things didn't get interesting until she faced him in Hell. Before placing the final eye in the door, she sank into meditation and searched for some insight into the battle to come. Insight was what she got. She was fighting, a reflection of herself and a deva by her side. They all focused on the mage himself... but in neglecting the other foes, they were torn to pieces. Faldorn woke. She cast powerful magics on herself and summoned powerful allies. When the time was right, all three of them focused their strength on one demon, who fell within seconds. They repeated this four times until only the mage himself remained. He attempted to mislead them with illusions. Faldorn saw through that. He tried to cloak himself in protective magics. Faldorn stripped them away. He ran. She followed. In the end, the mage didn't stand a chance. ********** And so, this segment of The Chronicles of Faldorn comes to the end. I would think some congratulations are in order... Not because I'm vain (which I am) but because I'd like to see the thread break 100 posts before I move on. And do you all suppose I should request the thread moved, or should I simply start another one on the ToB forum? Questions? Comments?
