Odd how that goes, but it shows just how divided the US is.. I hope we all can come together...
That's not the popular vote, that's just the numbers in North Carolina.

If the results are so close that they're within a certain margin of error, I'd imagine a recount.

A recount would happen, but I suspect it would have to be within a close enough margin and the results of the recount would impact the results of the election.

In any case, it appears to be over.... we now return you to your regularly scheduled news diet of riots, fires, and mudslides...

As decisive as this victory was for Obama, it didn't come nearly as close to Reagan's victory in 1984 as I had expected.

Reagan carried 49 of the 50 states, becoming only the second presidential candidate to do so after Richard Nixon's victory in the 1972 presidential election. Mondale's only electoral votes came from his home state of Minnesota—which he won by fewer than 3,800 votes—and the District of Columbia. Reagan's 525 electoral votes (out of 538) is the highest total ever received by a presidential candidate. In the national popular vote, Reagan received 58.8% to Mondale's 40.6%.

I was going to just summarize this, but I knew Lav would want to see the wiki numbers for himself.
