There is a new Jason movie coming out this summer and get this.. it's not just a Jason movie.. it's JASON VS. FREDDIE FROM NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET..

Kind of like Kong vs. Godzilla.

The "Alien" series makes an interesting example.
The 1st one was a true masterpiece. Very original at its time and very well made.
The 2nd one was more in the Rambo/Rocky line of sequels. Purely action and entertainment oriented. Too many aliens, robots, guns...
With the 3rd one, we're back to a more interresting movie.
And then comes the 4th...with a very nice "design" but thaz about all.

The "Batman" series is another case.
1st one was great. Tim Burton was successful in creating a Gotham City with a great atmosphere.
He did it again with the 2nd one.
In both of them the actors were just great.
Then comes the 3rd one And the 4th Yuck

Lets try to sum up what we have (O = Good movie, X = Bad movie) :

The Rocky/Rambo sequels configuration (and that is the more common) gives us something like : O_X_X_X_X_...

We have some exceptions like the Alien sequels configuration ( O_X_O_X ) or the Batman sequels configuration ( O_O_X_X )

Feel free to find more Sequels Configuration
Once we have enough of them, we'll write a book called : "Mathematics of the Sequels"
lol

Well there's always the bond series which IMHO goes

O_O_O_X_O_O_O_X_X_O_X_O_X_X_O_X_O_X_O_X

Of course they are all great in some way but that's my rating.

The Second Blues brother installment. The first was a classic, the second shamed the name "Blue brothers. ...and now for a cheap blatant advertisement of my sig link
