I think the record companies should get with the times, and have on their sites, online stores to buying individual songs for a few dollars, that way the pirates have direct competition and the Record companies make a bit more money.

Y'see thats where it all goes pear shaped. how much do you think it cost them to record and distribute a song (after initial set up costs) ? $1 a song is still an enormous amount compared to how much is costs. when the RIAA say they are so rigidly against any copywright infringement because it looses money for the artists, what they really mean is that the artists arnt content with being multimillionares living in mantions (see MTV Cribs) they want more. i understand it in the case of small artists being a bit picky, but the attitude the RIAA had taken is both uncompromising , and in the case of the VIRUSES, illegal (yes RIAA, in case your reading, they are technicaly viruses - programs malicously designed to cause undesired operation)

Edit: (N.B. this sounds like i am advertising breaking copywright laws. i am not, i am just stating my opinion.)
