The most underrated country in Europe in my humble opinion
you’ve mentioned Neuschwanstein but it’s always worth a second look. The Rhine valley at a slow rambling pace. It was like a visit to the world of Hans Christian Anderson, fairy tale castles everywhere. As /)eathkiller noted Koln (cologne) has the most drop dead stunning of cathedrals. But the whole area of Bavaria is just gourgous, spend a lot of time there. There is believe it or not, a little village called wank. Titter not people, the road outside the village is covered in skid marks where English speaking tourists have braked in disbelief and trying to stop there car in order to get that funny photo of the welcome to wank population ***

Overall advice would be stay of the main roads and get lost. The food is great, people nice, enjoy yourselves.
