AOL disabled the sound on my web pages that their employees/hackers haven't compromised the ftp spaces of so if I want the sound back I have to edit the pages and have my ftp space subjected to being filled with files that allow AOL & Easy Designer access to load my ftp space up with whatever they please (last time it was porn, the time before that it was illegal MS Office files) and delete my pages in the process.
Any time I have been forced to edit my pages as of late, once I exit Easy Designer my PC won't shut down without "the blue screen of death" and won't start back up without scanning 40GB for errors. If I don't restart, I can't go back into Easy designer if I sign off and sign back on without AOL "perferoming an illegal operation" (like anything they do is legal lol) and crashing.
I made a complaint to AOL Hometown and their Members Service area already.
Hometown (the people who have given me the hardest time since I complained) said it was my fault, that I must have a trojan virus and that they are not responsible for others having my password to gain access to my ftp space (even though my password is changed sometimes twice a day). Nevermind the fact that I had just performed a low-level maximumformat before I set everything up, use a firewall that keeps everyone else out, have a reliable anti-virus program and did not have any problems with the way my PC ran until I installed AOL and accessed the internet with it.
Member Services has failed to respond period.
A Phone call gets me someone who tells me to have my lawyer contact them since I cannot speak to anyone associated with AOL's security personally.
I am in an internet prison lol.
I won't be able to get out of here for another month.

I am not asking for help or sympathy...I just needed to vent.

Thank you for the hug Downunda! I really needed that LOL.
Well, I went ahead and "edited" (opened and saved as same page without changing anything) my "me & my pets page" just to get screen shots of the uncompromised ftp space before I started and the compromised ftp space when I was finished.
The sound on that one works now but sounds like crap in AOL's browser, go figure lol.
Re: the screen shots; like other former AOL members, I am going to put up a site (with pics) to show just how messed up they are.
First though, I'll put it on all 7 of my AOL screen name's web pages after I get everything moved and let them cancel my account and ban me from ever owning another account with them LOL.
Then I'll put it on every free ftp space that I can find on the internet who will allow it.
Doesn't make me feel any better about having to be here right now though

It most certainly is! The porn wasn't on my pages, just stored in my completely-unsecure-after-it-has-been-compromised ftp space at AOL. My pages had been deleted completely (not by me).

They blamed me but did not delete my account, as they should have if they followed their own rules. Hmmmmmmmm

yikes I'd get another internet provider... Isn't there a common saying these days..."AOhell sucks"?

Yeah, a common phrase heard throughout rooms in this house (multiple computers, multiple users) is "I hate AOL!"
We are working on getting another provider but it is going to take a month to get some paperwork straightened out and web pages moved...maybe longer if I don't get my arse in gear...school starts Monday.

Awww, I'm sorry to hear that Moni! I'll offer a *Hug* too, and please don't feel obligated to return it as that is not my intention Such situations are truly frustrating, especially if you are like me and not very pc literate and have no idea what additional damage will result if you go "dinking" around in these places trying to modify things when you really don't know what the heck you are doing. . .

Thanks The.Relic
I managed to get the sound working on both pages and have downloaded all of my html files for copy and paste purposes into new htmls to upload into tripod.
I really don't want to actually transfer the AOL-made htmls and any virtual parasites that may be attached to them.
Just getting ready for the move feels good.
I have 1 whole screen name whose ftp space hasn't been compormised LOL.
Its not like I can't delete their folders and make it inaccessible to them until they can hack my password and replace it or replace it if I have to edit something but it is disnheartening to know that they support such low-life scum and take our money to pay them with.
*hugs
I know pretty much what I am doing so I think its all going to be OK

Ye gods, Moni, that's terrible!

I'd say sue the freakin' pants off of them, but I don't know how much they have left to "get", actually. Have you seen the price of AOHell stock lately?

I hope you can find a much better ISP, and soon!
