#1 HOW DO THEY KNOW IF YOU SKIP COMERCIALS ?!?!?!?!?! Is there some kind of unknown spyware in a TiVo box that sends the T.V. company a message every time you skip a comercial?? Do they have some type of television gnome monitoring your T.V. habits?? What about bathroom and snack breaks?? Do thoes count as "Skipping comercials" as well? #2 They say you will have to pay an additional $250 a year for T.V. service if people keep skipping comercials. WTF is up with that?? Last time I checked with both satalite and cable T.V. there was a monthly fee of around $20 for just the basics , not to mention the upwards of around $100 for instalation!! Now these blood suckers want more money!! Kind of makes me glad I dont watch T.V. any more. #3 Useing the "if you skip comercials you are a thief" mentality of AOL/TimeWarner, if you use anything they provide in a manner that they havent dictated then you are "stealing from them". What a crock !! According to that if you own a restaurant and use recipies you saw on the food network then you are a thief, if you work on wall street and use stock tips from the financial channel to get rich then you are a thief, if you are a land scaper and use gardening tips from Martha Stewart then you are a thief. That makes me very glad that the only thing I use AOL for is the decorative coasters they keep sending me [ 07-21-2002, 11:06 AM: Message edited by: The Hunter of Jahanna ]

EVEL KAPATALISTS!!!!
KEEL DEM AL!!!! But it is a very worrying thing, but of course it is only to be expected from corporations, given that the interests of people, and the company do not converge. |

There are too many adverts around anyway. I can't speak for other places, but in Scotland it is not at all unusual to have upwards of 5 minutes of adverts. It used to be that you pay your TV licencing fee for the BBC so you don't get adverts, and the other channels were free but they came with adverts. Now, with Sky for example, you have to pay a subscription AND put up with seemingly hours worth of adverts...
It's all just down to greed. Eventually there will be adverts no matter where we look, because the corporate fatcatsa just can't get enough of that wonderful cash.

And here in Norway we have this: To see the tv if you have parabol antenna you must pay for a tv card to put in to your reciver about $20 for the card every year then if you will SEE some channels you must pay betveen $150 to $400 a year and 95% of those channels have god damnit COMERCIALS to so you must pay to see those ANNOYING COMERCIALS that i hate so i almost dont se tv at all.
And if they have some great football matches then you must pay exstra for that to also something they call "KIOSK" pey per wiev! LOL where will this end? And the card also cost about $25 to get! |

Where did you find this article? I think it's several months old already... Quite amusing though. And impossible to implement.
