Not dumbed down console RPG: Suikoden I & II.

108 story linked npcs to put in the party of 6 you control, awesome effects for a ps1 series, tons of sidegames, and quite the melodramatic story. My favorite console rpg series, even beating FF in my book. The icing on the cake is a brand new Suikoden for the ps2 is on the horizon.

Hey hey hey....what about Zelda on N64?

I could argue with you about this for hours, as i'm certain everyone here knows I love console RPGS. But it wouldn't change either of our minds, so I will not bother. *cough* FPS *cough*

True, but even they arent as good as they used to be. I loved FF7, but felt the demo to FF10 was too bizarre to buy.
Don't let the demo scare you. FFX is truly a great FF. One that any fan shouldn't miss out on. Square just added loads of stuff to the formula that's all.
