My first 4th of July here. It really felt like I was in America. Really rammed it home again. It was excellent. Saw some amazing fireworks. They went off like it was the fourth of July....

See! Now that statement means something!

Bloody hot up here in NYC though. Spent a good part of the day in water, and the other part in front of speakers.

It's funny how you can normalise where you are. I've been trying to percieve everything with the eyes I had when I first got here. Keep that "all is new" sensation. Days like today make that a reality. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I'm really glad too that I tried to see Sydney, the home town, through the eyes of a tourist. At one stage I was getting the ferry from Cremorne to Circular Quay every day, right past the Opera house and harbour bridge. I lapped it up each day, knowing it wouldn't be forever.

And now I'm here, on the other side of the planet, in the 'Rome' of the English speaking world, on a hot night on the fourth of July, all too often surrounded by people who talk funny and use words like "a ways" or "schlep."

Glad youre enjoying NYC Yorick! The fire works show at the school was blah because at the end there was too much smoke to see anything [img]tongue.gif[/img] .

I'll b comin to Sydney about a year and a half, and i cant wait to see the opera house, my dad says its amazing .
