We do not learn from the pain if we do not feel it or look at it. Sometimes looking means writting about it or looking at it in an old pic or something that represents that pain. Like the pain of a lost love or a broken heart.

Realwho2 - Thanks for your comments, too. My problem was that I hung on to the stuff years after the separation and had a tendency to reread it, thus trapping myself in the past.
