Watched the "Screen Savers" on Tech TV, said that a 100Gig Drive was coming out soon, and that the limit on current PC's for HD size is 132gig. How will be get past this? A Raid card or a new type of controller card/MB?
Sounds good, and they even said it will be under $400!! Geez! ------------------ Ziroc Ironworks Webmaster www.tgeweb.com/ironworks |

Yes, there are a couple of companies with a 100gig drive on the market, and we are quickly approaching the "limit" of IDE. However, it's not the first time that we've approached a limit, and they always come up with some way to get around it. Redesign the spec, etc.
Rest assured, there will be drives larger than 132gb. There's a lot of really cool stuff in the works, and it's gonna be very interesting to see how things are going to play out. ------------------ Always listen to your heart, for it will never lead you astray. hehehe don't worry 132GB is in no way the limit. As Ziroc mentioned there's always RAID. You'll just buy more than one drive and the RAID controller will treat it as one. This even speeds up access time in certain RAID levels where if the strips are small enough, the bytes from the same file will be spread across the discs allowing parallel reading.
