SPOILER!
* * * * * * * * * * * * After Yoshimo betrays you in the Asylum, who should I use for a thief? I know there's Imoen but she dual-classed at some really low level, and Aeire is a much better mage at this point in the game than she is. Who should I use in the game as my theif??? Thanks. |

Jan,
Coz he's multi-class, so his thief skills will still improve, but not reach max. Or the Bard guy, forgot his name. ------------------ If not a Sorcerer, then a Paladin. |

Imoen is good enough. After Spellhold, there aren't that many locked chests and/or traps (assuming you did everything else beforehand). I think Imoen is a better mage than Jan or Aerie, she will catch up quick too (dual-classed, not multi-classed).

I would like to use Haer'Dalis but first I need to rescue him from the Planar Prison. Also, do blades have all the thieving abilities that regular thieves do? What should I do with Imoen if I have a party of Me (Barbarian), Mazzy, Minsc, Jahiera, Aerie, and ????!

Blades don't have the full complement of thief skills. They can pickpocket a bit and that's really about it. The amount of skill points they get per level is quite low, as well.
The Bard design is the jack-of-all-trades, incorporating some thievery, some magic and some weapons ability into one character. Seems to me that it's the worst design as all the abilities are watered down, making them a weak team player. Anybody tried soloing with bards? They're flexible, at least. |

I've soloed with a Skald before. They're good for soloing and small parties.

2 melee fighters, 1 fighter/archer( Mazzy), 1 druid and 1 multi-class mage/cleric. Might want Imoen then, a high level mage will be useful in the later parts of the game when you need the higher-level spells/counter spells against liches and Irenicus. Ruby Rays of Reversal and Warding Whips are tasty. Of course, I may be biase since Sorcerer is my favourite class, but you are lacking a high level mage in your party. ------------------ If not a Sorcerer, then a Paladin. |
